Job Description

Anderson Knight is delighted to be partnering with our Edinburgh-based client to recruit an experienced HR Advisor for a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a varied and hands-on generalist opportunity, offering exposure across employee relations, absence management, recruitment, and people reporting.

Working closely with the HR team, leadership, and employees, you will play a key role in supporting the attraction, retention, and performance of staff while ensuring best practice and compliance with employment legislation.

The Role

As HR Advisor, you will act as a trusted first point of contact for both managers and employees, providing practical and commercially focused HR guidance across the full employee lifecycle. From recruitment and onboarding through to performance management and employee relations, you will support a broad range of people activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for managers and employees on day-to-day HR queries

  • Build effective working relationships, setting clear expectations in line with company policies

  • Provide first-line support on employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary, grievance, and sickness absence cases

  • Support performance management processes, work reviews, and organisational change initiatives

  • Assist with talent management and performance review cycles

  • Review and update HR policies to ensure compliance with current employment legislation

  • Support the delivery of wider people and organisational objectives

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment activity across UK sites

  • Develop and support recruitment campaigns

  • Coordinate offer and appointment processes

  • Oversee onboarding and induction activities

  • Maintain and analyse HR data using internal systems

  • Produce monthly headcount reports, forecasting data, and people KPI metrics

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience within a generalist HR role

  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment legislation

  • CIPD qualification or actively working towards accreditation (desirable)

  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • The ability to build credible relationships at all levels

  • A collaborative and team-oriented approach
