Job Summary
Our Cleaning Operations Team Leader reports to the Deputy Cleaning Operations Manager. The role covers services from 06:00 to 20:00, seven days a week on a rota basis. The Team Leader supports day to day management of 129 WTE healthcare cleaning staff and helps maintain the Trust's cleaning and infection control policies to ensure a clean, safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Main Duties
- Be visible on the shop floor, supporting cleaning staff and carrying out visual inspections of cleaning standards.
- Ensure cleaning tasks and sign off sheets are completed to required standards.
- Support delivery of the highest standard of cleaning services under direction of the Deputy Cleaning Manager.
- Play a key role in implementing the new cleaning operations service model to meet NHS National Standards of Cleanliness and Trust policies.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, colleagues and members of the public.
- Communicate effectively with hospital staff, the public, patients, colleagues and external suppliers in a timely manner.
- Participate in meetings such as staff team meetings, cleaning standards, matrons and operational management briefings.
- Assist the cleaning team with cascade of information and maintain good handover processes.
- Respond positively to external inspections (CQC, Environmental Health, PLACE) and escalations to line managers.
- Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and act as a role model.
- Support quality assurance and performance monitoring of Trust cleaning services.
- Promote incident reporting and ensure incidents are managed and lessons learned applied.
- Promote infection control awareness and support monitoring and reduction measures.
- Ensure proper waste segregation and disposal in accordance with recycling policies.
- Investigate and respond to customer, service user and employee complaints/feedback, ensuring robust plans and resolution.
- Support the Deputy Cleaning Manager in prioritising daily cleaning operations and staffing allocation.
Person Specification Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading a cleaning operations team.
- Leadership qualification or relevant experience (e.g., NVQ Hospitality/Leadership).
- Experience in a similar environment.
Desirable
- Qualification in Hospitality or Leadership.
- Additional years of experience in similar role.
