Job Description

We are partnering with a well-established manufacturing business to appoint an Environmental & Sustainability Manager. This is a key leadership role, responsible for embedding environmental best practice across operations while supporting the business s long-term sustainability and compliance objectives. The successful candidate will act as the site and group subject-matter expert on environmental management, regulatory compliance, and sustainability strategy, working closely with operations, engineering, supply chain, and senior leadership

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems across manufacturing sites
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental legislation, permits, and regulatory requirements
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders
  • Monitor and report on emissions, waste, water usage, and environmental performance metrics
  • Lead internal and external environmental audits and manage corrective actions
  • Develop and implement the company s environmental and sustainability strategy aligned to business goals
  • Drive initiatives to reduce carbon footprint, energy consumption, waste, and resource usage
  • Support carbon reporting, life-cycle assessments, and ESG data requirements
  • Champion continuous improvement projects that deliver measurable environmental and commercial benefits
  • Support new product introductions with sustainability and compliance input
  • Provide environmental training and awareness programmes across the organisation

The ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience in an environmental, sustainability, or EHS role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong working knowledge of UK and/or EU environmental legislation
  • Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 14001
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders in an operational setting
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills
  • Environmental or sustainability-related degree
  • IEMA, NEBOSH Environmental Management, or equivalent professional qualification
  • Experience with carbon reporting, ESG frameworks, or Science-Based Targets
  • Multi-site manufacturing experience
