An ambitious and high-achieving secondary school in Guildford is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Food Technology from September 2026. The school is well regarded locally for its strong academic outcomes and its commitment to developing confident, capable and well-rounded young people.

Students learn in a calm and purposeful environment where expectations are high and relationships are built on mutual respect. Staff are trusted as professionals and supported to deliver engaging and meaningful learning experiences.

The Role

The successful candidate will teach Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to contribute to Key Stage 5 provision where appropriate. Experience of delivering GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition would be advantageous but is not essential.

  • Promote knowledge of nutrition, food science, sustainability and healthy living

  • Maintain high standards of organisation, safety and classroom practice

  • Use assessment effectively to secure sustained student progress

  • Contribute positively to a collaborative and forward-thinking department

This opportunity would suit both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers. Professional development is tailored to individual experience, with structured induction support for ECTs and clear progression pathways for more established practitioners.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Demonstrate secure subject knowledge in Food Technology or Food Preparation and Nutrition

  • Have consistently high expectations for achievement and behaviour

  • Build positive, professional relationships with students

  • Show a reflective approach and commitment to ongoing professional development

  • Have the right to work in the UK

The School Offers

  • Progress 8 performance consistently above national averages

  • Strong GCSE outcomes

  • A successful and growing Sixth Form

  • Well-equipped specialist food rooms

  • A calm and consistent behaviour culture

  • High-quality CPD and clear opportunities for career progression

  • Leadership that prioritises staff wellbeing

The school is committed to ensuring that every student, regardless of background, is supported to achieve their full potential.

Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. An enhanced DBS check and appropriate pre-employment checks will be required. Applications are welcomed from all suitably qualified candidates.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a school community where high standards are matched by strong support and professional trust.
