Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to join a busy healthcare team within an NHS setting on a temporary basis. This is a part-time role working 18.75 hours per week, Wednesday to Friday.
Overview:
This is a key administrative role providing comprehensive secretarial support to clinical teams and senior staff. The successful candidate will provide high quality secretarial support, ensuring accurate documentation, effective communication and smooth coordination of clinical activities. The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail and previous experience within a healthcare environment.
Main Duties:
- Providing full medical secretarial support to clinicians and multidisciplinary teams
- Audio typing and transcription of clinical correspondence
- Preparing and recording formal meeting minutes including MDT and committee meetings
- Managing diaries, scheduling appointments and coordinating clinics
- Processing referrals and maintaining accurate patient records
- Responding to telephone and email enquiries in a professional manner
- Updating electronic patient record systems such as EMIS, SystmOne or similar
- Supporting agenda preparation and action tracking following meetings
Essential Criteria:
- Previous administrative / secretarial experience in a clinical or healthcare setting
- Experience of minute taking including formal and committee minutes
- Strong typing and transcription skills
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic patient record systems
