Job Description

Futures recruitment is looking to appoint a Sales Engineer who is equally comfortable talking to customers as they are diving into technical detail. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, sales, and commercial delivery, and it s critical to winning and executing the right business.

The successful candidate will come from a strong technical background and will play a key role in reviewing RFQs, shaping technical solutions, and supporting the sales process from initial enquiry through to order.

You ll work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to assess customer requirements, translate them into viable technical and commercial proposals, and ensure what we sell can be delivered efficiently and profitably.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Review, analyse, and respond to RFQs, tenders, and technical enquiries
  • Interpret customer specifications, drawings, and standards to define technical scope
  • Develop technical solutions in collaboration with engineering and operations teams
  • Identify risks, constraints, and assumptions during the quotation phase
  • Support the preparation of costings, lead times, and technical documentation
  • Act as a technical point of contact for customers during the pre-sales process
  • Support sales teams in technical meetings, presentations, and clarifications
  • Ensure proposals align with internal capabilities and commercial objectives
  • Provide handover support once orders are won to ensure smooth project execution

The ideal Candidate

  • Degree, HND, or equivalent experience in an engineering or technical discipline
  • Proven experience in a Sales Engineer, Applications Engineer, or similar technical-commercial role
  • Strong experience reviewing and responding to RFQs
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and standards
  • Experience working with customers in a B2B or industrial/technical environment
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of cost, margin, and risk
