Job Description

Teaching Assistant - Year 2 (ADHD / SEMH Focus)

Bristol Full Time or Part Time (Mornings, Monday to Friday)

We are supporting a welcoming primary school in Bristol that is seeking a skilled and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work with a Year 2 pupil who is settling into a new school following a permanent exclusion.

This role is supported by 2:1 funding and would suit someone who is calm, emotionally intelligent and confident supporting children with ADHD and social, emotional and mental health needs.

The Role
You will play a key part in helping this child feel safe, confident and ready to learn. The pupil has settled positively and is not currently displaying physical behaviours; however, they do require consistent support, structure and strong relationships to thrive.

Support will take place across:

  • The main classroom, alongside peers
  • A dedicated nurture-style space designed around the child's needs

You will lead a clear, personalised daily structure, balancing learning, play, regulation and choice. The approach is relational rather than reactive, with a strong focus on building trust, resilience and self-esteem.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience supporting children with ADHD, SEMH or similar needs
  • Is confident engaging children through play-based and hands-on learning
  • Can follow an individualised routine and adapt support throughout the day
  • Uses a nurture-led, trauma-informed approach
  • Is patient, consistent and emotionally attuned
  • Works well as part of a wider support team

Working Pattern:

  • Full time, or
  • Part time mornings (Monday to Friday)

This role would be ideal for a Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, or someone with a background in nurture, behaviour support, youth work or play clubs who is confident working in a school environment.
There is an opportunity for the right TA to go permanent in the role, providing a strong relationship is build with the pupil and progress is continued.

If you're passionate about helping children rebuild confidence and succeed in education, this is a genuinely rewarding opportunity.
