A dynamic and rapidly growing building services consultancy is looking for an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their Birmingham office. This role is ideal for engineers with 2-5 years' experience eager to develop their skills and contribute to a wide range of projects across education, commercial, healthcare, and residential sectors. You'll work alongside a supportive team of electrical and mechanical engineers, gaining exposure to all project stages-from concept design through to installation and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and development of electrical building services including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, data/communications, and security systems
  • Produce calculations, technical drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers and other disciplines to deliver fully coordinated MEP solutions
  • Support site visits and surveys, preparing technical reports
  • Ensure designs comply with UK regulations, CIBSE standards, and client requirements
  • Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and project coordination activities
  • Develop knowledge of sustainable design principles and low carbon technologies
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or Building Services
  • 2-5 years' experience in electrical building services design, preferably within a consultancy environment
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software (e.g., Amtech, Dialux)
  • Strong understanding of BS7671, CIBSE guides, and relevant UK building regulations
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Enthusiastic about professional development and working towards chartership
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet project deadlines
