A dynamic and rapidly growing building services consultancy is looking for an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their Birmingham office. This role is ideal for engineers with 2-5 years' experience eager to develop their skills and contribute to a wide range of projects across education, commercial, healthcare, and residential sectors. You'll work alongside a supportive team of electrical and mechanical engineers, gaining exposure to all project stages-from concept design through to installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of electrical building services including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, data/communications, and security systems
- Produce calculations, technical drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers and other disciplines to deliver fully coordinated MEP solutions
- Support site visits and surveys, preparing technical reports
- Ensure designs comply with UK regulations, CIBSE standards, and client requirements
- Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and project coordination activities
- Develop knowledge of sustainable design principles and low carbon technologies
Candidate Requirements
- Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or Building Services
- 2-5 years' experience in electrical building services design, preferably within a consultancy environment
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software (e.g., Amtech, Dialux)
- Strong understanding of BS7671, CIBSE guides, and relevant UK building regulations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Enthusiastic about professional development and working towards chartership
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet project deadlines
