Contract: Temporary - 3 months
Hours: Full-time
Hourly rate: 12.80- 15.00

About the role

STAR Housing is seeking an experienced Intensive Housing Manager to join us on a short-term, hands-on assignment to provide leadership, stability, and performance improvement across our housing management services.

This is a delivery-focused interim role, ideal for an experienced housing manager who can quickly assess service pressures, take operational control, and drive immediate improvement. You will play a key role in ensuring core landlord services are delivered effectively and in line with regulatory and customer expectations.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing hands-on leadership across housing management functions, such as tenancy management, neighbourhoods, ASB, and income.

  • Rapidly assessing performance, identifying backlogs, risks, and service gaps.

  • Implementing short-term recovery and improvement plans with clear priorities and timescales.

  • Supporting teams with clear direction, coaching, and decisive management during a period of pressure or change.

  • Overseeing complex or high-risk cases, including ASB and tenancy enforcement where required.

  • Working closely with internal colleagues and external partners to resolve issues impacting customers.

  • Ensuring compliance with housing legislation, regulatory standards, and STAR Housing policies.

  • Providing clear progress updates and a structured handover at the end of the assignment.

What we're looking for

  • Substantial experience in housing management within a housing association or local authority.

  • Proven ability to stabilise services and improve performance in challenging environments.

  • Strong knowledge of tenancy management, ASB, and income collection.

  • Experience of managing and motivating teams through change or high workloads.

  • A confident, pragmatic leader who can make decisions quickly and communicate clearly.

  • Ability to add value immediately with minimal induction.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in an interim or temporary housing management role.

  • CIH qualification or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience working in rural or mixed communities.
