Childcare Solicitor
Experience: NQ-6 Years' PQE)
Location: Birmingham
Contract: Permanent, full-time (flexible working available)
A highly regarded Legal 500 law firm in Birmingham is seeking to recruit a Childcare Solicitor to join its well-established and specialist family and care team. This opportunity is open to newly qualified solicitors through to those with up to 6 years' PQE.
The team has an excellent reputation for representing local authorities, parents, guardians, and other parties in public law children matters, and is known for its supportive culture, high-quality work, and commitment to social justice.
The Role
You will manage a varied caseload of public law childcare matters, including:
- Care proceedings
- Supervision and placement orders
- Interim applications
- Advocacy (depending on experience)
- Working closely with clients, social workers, and other professionals
- The level of responsibility will be tailored to your experience, with structured supervision and development support available at all levels.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in childcare/public law children work (or strong training seat exposure for NQs)
- Comfortable handling sensitive and emotionally complex cases
- Strong advocacy, communication, and organisational skills
- A genuine commitment to child welfare and public law work
