Poultry Farm Worker
Location Heydon & Wood Dalling
Reports To Farm Owner
My client is a family owned poultry farm housing between birds, they are looking for someone to support them in the day to day operation who has previous experience in the farming sector
Job Purpose
To support the day-to-day operation of the poultry farm by ensuring high standards of animal welfare, maintaining farm facilities and equipment, and contributing to a safe, efficient, and hygienic working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Animal Welfare & Livestock Care
Carry out daily inspections of poultry to monitor health, behaviour, and welfare
Identify signs of illness, injury, or distress and report concerns promptly
Handle birds humanely and in accordance with animal welfare regulations
Assist with vaccination, health checks, and biosecurity procedures
Maintain clean, dry, and comfortable housing conditions
Follow all animal welfare standards, legislation, and farm protocols
Farm Maintenance & Operations
Clean and disinfect poultry houses, equipment, and work areas
Assist with litter management, strawing up and waste disposal
Carry out basic maintenance and repairs to buildings, fencing, and equipment
Carry out basic grounds maintenance including strimming, ditch draining, gutter cleaning etc
Operate farm machinery and tools safely (training provided where required)
Ensure feed systems, drinkers, ventilation, and lighting are functioning correctly
Maintain high standards of hygiene across the farm
Health, Safety & Compliance
Follow health and safety procedures at all times
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Comply with biosecurity measures to prevent disease spread
Keep accurate records where required (e.g. mortalities, feed, cleaning schedules)
Skills & Experience
Essential
Willingness to work with live animals and adhere to animal welfare standards
Ability to carry out physically demanding work in a farm environment
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
Basic understanding of health and safety practices
Attention to detail and good observation skills
Desirable
Previous experience working on a poultry or livestock farm
Basic maintenance or mechanical skills
Full driving licence as will be required to travel between 2 sites 3 miles apart

Working Conditions
Work carried out in indoor and outdoor farm environments
Exposure to dust, noise, muck and varying temperatures
Weekend and holiday work will be required (every other weekend)
