PERL Software Developer

As a trusted partner to the UK Ministry of Defence, our client is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with strong C programming skills and proficiency in PERL. In this role, you'll be instrumental in developing and maintaining text-based templates that underpin Technical Publications authoring and publishing. Prior knowledge of the Technical Publications process is advantageous but not essential - we value flexibility and a proactive approach to learning.

You'll also have the opportunity to design and enhance applications and reporting tools across a range of technologies, including C#, SQL, Java, and PowerShell. • Code technical publication stylesheets using PERL language
• Develop database solutions to store and retrieve company information
• Install and configure information systems to ensure functionality
• Analysing, planning, and defining data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data
• Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions
• Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting and integrating new elements
• Optimize new and current database systems
• Define security and backup procedures
• Collaborating with other teams within the organisation to devise and implement data strategies, build models, and assess shareholder needs and goals
• Provide operational support for Management Information Systems

• Strong proficiency in PERL programming is essential.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and C# for database and application development.
• Experience with data visualisation tools and techniques is highly desirable.
• High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis.
• Hands on experience in data modelling, metadata management, and data synthesis.
• Proven ability to gather, document, and analyse complex system requirements.
• Exceptional analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
• Demonstrated problem solving mindset and ability to deliver innovative solutions.
