Salaried GP

As a salaried GP, you will manage a busy, interestingclinical caseload ensuring the highest standard of care for all patients. Youwill have the opportunity to lead on a key disease area and assist indeveloping services for our patient list.

Thepost holder will support the partners to manage a busy, interesting clinicalcaseload, ensuring the highest standard of care for all patients. The postholder will carry out all the duties reasonably expected of an NHS generalpractitioner using the standards expected by the GMC and RCGP in line withappropriate national and/or local guidelines.

Sessions required: A minimum of 5 sessions per week, plus flexibility to provide cover when necessary.

We are a large, forward thinking GP Practice in Oxford, withapproximately 26,000 patients, looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicatedGP to join our team.

We operate across two sites, the Manor Surgery in Headington and Kennington Health Centre.We currently have a salaried GP opportunity based primarily at ourKennington site, ideally for 6 sessions per week. There is flexibility toundertake 12 sessions at The Manor Surgery if preferred.

We are a modern, friendly practice, with a strong sense ofcommunity and patient care. We have a brilliant supporting clinical team ofPharmacists, Paramedics, Physios, Specialist LTC Nurses and Treatment RoomNurses and HCAs.

We a training practice with a strong focus on education anddevelopment. We invest in our team and want to create opportunities for careerprogression through routes such as portfolio working and giving autonomy totake the lead and use initiative.

We are a high achieving practice year on year for QOF andachieved Good across the board in our last CQC inspection.In 2024 we were assessed on the equity in access quality statementand were rated as Outstanding.

Clinical:

• In accordance with the practice timetable, asagreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake avariety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultationsand queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeatprescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in atimely fashion
• Making professional, autonomous decisions inrelation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred fromother health care workers within the organisation
• Assessing the health care needs of patientswith undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
• Screening patients for disease risk factorsand early signs of illness
• Developing care plans for health inconsultation with patients and in line with current practice diseasemanagement protocols
• Providing counselling and health education
• Admitting or discharging patients to and fromthe caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
• Recording clear and contemporaneousconsultation notes to agreed standards
• Compiling and issuing computer-generatedacute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptionswhenever possible)
• Prescribing in accordance with the practiceprescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinicallyappropriate
• In general, the post-holder will be expectedto undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with aGP working within primary care.
