About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to lead and support mechanical engineering activities across a busy industrial facility. This role will oversee maintenance teams, contractors, and day-to-day mechanical operations, with a key focus on steam systems, high-pressure plant, pipework, and biomass equipment.

You'll be the go-to person on site for technical guidance, safe systems of work, and ensuring all mechanical activities are delivered to a high standard. Ideal for a senior engineer or lead technician looking to step up, or a supervisor with strong industry experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise mechanical engineers and contractors during planned and reactive maintenance

  • Oversee work on steam systems, boilers, pipework, high-pressure plant, valves, and biomass boilers

  • Allocate workloads, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of PPM and reactive works

  • Provide hands-on support with complex mechanical tasks, diagnostics, and system faults

  • Lead site compliance for mechanical systems, ensuring all works follow safety and statutory regulations

  • Review, approve, and produce RAMS, permits to work, isolations, and method statements

  • Support project works, system upgrades, commissioning, and modifications

  • Liaise with management, H&S teams, and external contractors to coordinate works

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and compliance documentation

  • Drive continuous improvement in reliability, efficiency, and engineering standards on site

Key Requirements
  • Strong mechanical engineering background within industrial or manufacturing environments

  • Proven experience supervising or leading a maintenance/mechanical team

  • High-level understanding of pipefitting, steam systems, high-pressure plant, and biomass equipment

  • Confident in reading technical drawings, P&IDs, boiler manuals, and pressure equipment documentation

  • Strong H&S knowledge: PTW, LOTO, RAMS, isolations & statutory inspection requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / HNC in Mechanical Engineering or similar (desirable)

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Able to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and make safe, efficient decisions
