Possession of Cemetery Operatives Training Scheme Certificate or
the ability to work towards the certification or experience of working in
a similar role or allied industry.
Possession of Crematorium Technicians Training Scheme Certificate
Good written and verbal communications skills with good attention to
detail
Experience of digging by hand or mechanical equipment to various
depths using suitable shoring methods.
The ability to operate cremators and associated computerised control
and recording equipment. I
The ability to follow maintenance schedules for cremators and
associated crematorium machinery.

The ability to locate and excavate graves to a given depth and size
from written and verbal instructions.
The ability to use hand and power tools for various tasks.
The willingness and ability to work outside normal hours and at
weekends as part of a rota. This work can include grave digging,
cremating, grounds maintenance and cemetery bus service.
Willingness and ability to carry out heavy manual work outdoors in all
weathers, which may include moving memorial stones and other
