Salaried GP

The WindrushMedical Practice, Witney, Oxfordshire (Edge of the Cotswolds and 13 miles fromOxford) is a well established, forward thinking training practice, with anemphasis on high quality family medicine. We are looking for an enthusiastic salariedGP to join our expanding team. We are looking for a GP to work ideally fivesessions.

The duties of the post are to provide a full range of general medical services as contained in accordance with the associated job plan.

The post holder is expected to support the partners in providing all services outlined in the GMS contract and also in the aims and objectives of the practice.

You will be expected to support and input into the aims of the practice in areas of clinical governance, good practice, QOF, Enhanced Services, Practice Audit, referral review and any other improvement areas as determined by the practice.

You will be encouraged to utilise and develop any skills for improvement of services to patients.

You are expected to maintain and keep good standards of good clinical records at all times.

Full involvement in any practice training and on-going requirements.

You are expected to maintain and keep good standards of paperwork.

You will be required to attend and participate in Practice Meetings.

Practitioners will be required to comply with the requirement of NHS Appraisal and re validation as may from time to time apply. You will have a personal appraisal with the practice manager at least on an annual basis which will provide the opportunity to review your job plan.

• Expanding practice currently 2,393 patients, 18 GPs. (15% dispensing)
• GP owned purpose built health centre opened March 2012
• Training practice with two trainers and undergraduate teaching
• Wellbeing is actively promoted by wellbeing committee
• 15 minute GP appointments with allocated daily admin time, using EMIS Web
• Outstanding CQC rating and consistently achieve 99.9% QOF
• regular clinical meetings and run mentor scheme for those new to the practice.
• Supportive MDT with prescribing clinical pharmacist clinics
• Acute Care Team comprising of GP, ANP, Paramedic and practice nurses to help manage the on the day demand.
• Adjacent community hospital, minor injuries unit and radiology and Emergency Medical Unit
• NHS Endoscopy and echocardiography on site
• Significant involvement in Primary Care Research.
• No out of hours commitment
• Part of an active PCN
• Early Visiting Service who pick up most of the home visits on behalf of GPs.
• 6 weeks holiday and 1 weeks study leave (pro rata)
• First line management of documents is provided by trained practice assistants to reduce GP admin.
• A team of GP Assistants working alongside our GPs to reduce the administrative workload.

Clinical Responsibilities: -

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

Providing counselling and health education.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.

Delivering enhanced services.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.

Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

• Qualified GP,
• General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT),
• Full GMC Registration,
• National Performers List registration,
• Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
• MRCGP
