Behaviour Specialist (SEMH) Supply - Secondary Schools - Preston & Blackpool

Are you a dedicated, highly resilient Behaviour Specialist or Mentor seeking flexible, impactful work in secondary schools across Preston and Blackpool?

We are urgently recruiting experienced Behaviour Specialists and Behaviour Support Assistants to manage student conduct and deliver crucial intervention support across Key Stages 3 and 4 in Lancashire. This is a specialist supply role offering excellent daily rates and immediate start opportunities for professionals who thrive in challenging environments.



The Specialist Role and Key Responsibilities:

Your role will be pivotal in the school's pastoral team, focusing on managing and mitigating challenging behaviour, particularly for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

  • 1:1 and Small Group Intervention: Provide targeted support and deliver bespoke behaviour and emotional regulation sessions.

  • In-Class Support: Embed yourself within the classroom to provide immediate de-escalation and manage disruptive behaviour, supporting the teaching flow.

  • Full Class Supervision (Cover): Occasionally take charge of a full class setting, applying expert classroom management techniques to maintain a focused environment.

  • Strategy Implementation: Confidently and calmly implement individual support plans (ISPs), risk assessments, and positive behaviour support (PBS) strategies.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the SENCO, Pastoral Leads, and teaching staff to ensure a consistent approach to student well-being.



Essential Skills & Requirements:

  • Significant, demonstrable experience in a Behaviour Support role (e.g., Youth Work, Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), Mainstream Secondary Inclusion).

  • Expertise in challenging behaviour management and effective de-escalation techniques.

  • A resilient, calm, and authoritative yet empathetic presence.

  • Certification in a recognised training program like Team Teach or Positive Handling is highly advantageous.

  • Hold or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
