Job Title: General Assistant - Aviation Catering
Location: Manchester
Pay: £12.21 paid weekly
Shifts: 4 on 2 off (7am-3:30pm or 10am-6:30pm )
Job Purpose
We are seeking reliable and motivated General Assistants to join our operational support team. This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to work under pressure across a range of departments including equipment packing, bond store, dishwashing, production, warehouse, and despatch. You'll play a key part in ensuring high standards of service delivery within a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
You may be rotated across various departments. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Bond Store / Pick & Pack
Pack trolleys and carts according to airline specifications and schedules.
Maintain accurate stock levels, rotate stock for maximum shelf life.
Ensure compliance with security and HMRC regulations.
Record breakages and carry out final security checks.
Perform manual handling tasks, including repetitive lifting (12-15kg).
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Cleaning
Use cleaning chemicals responsibly and store them securely.
Respond to spills immediately and use correct signage.
Replenish hygiene items (e.g. hand wash, hairnets) as required.
Dishwashing
Check equipment for cleanliness and damage post-wash.
Ensure dishwashing equipment is functioning correctly and dosed appropriately.
Support equipment demands of suppliers and departments.
Production / Kitchen
Organise and distribute items to relevant departments efficiently.
Maintain production targets and hygiene standards.
Minimise and report food wastage and breakages.
Warehouse / Goods In
Accurately store, rotate, and count inventory.
Operate equipment safely (e.g. forklifts, if licensed).
Comply with COSHH, HACCP and all food safety standards.
General Duties Across All Departments
Follow "clean as you go" practices at all times.
Maintain professionalism when interacting with colleagues and clients.
Report hazards, accidents, or near misses promptly.
Comply with policies, procedures, and any changes to working practices.
Undertake additional duties as assigned by your manager.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic literacy (written and spoken English).
Willingness to work across departments and shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Desirable:
Awareness of food safety, HACCP, COSHH, and manual handling best practices.
Forklift licence (if applicable).
Additional Requirements
Must comply with uniform and PPE standards.
Must be eligible to work in the UK and pass relevant security checks.
Must live within a reasonable commuting distance or have reliable transport.
