Job Description

MMP Consultancy is seeking an Estates Surveyor/Property Partner to join an Operational Property Team on behalf of a Local Authority based in Bristol. In this key role, you will act as a strategic link between the services that occupy council buildings and the Property Division, advising on all aspects of property asset management.

This is a temporary position until the end of December 2025, subject to possible extension thereafter. The rate of pay will be 33.92ph via an umbrella company over a 37-hour working week. The team offers hybrid working with 2 days in the office per week. Site visits may be required - usually between 1 to 5 per week depending on project demands.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading on service-specific property reviews to support cost-effective and efficient delivery of council services.
  • Developing and implementing property strategies that align with service needs, council-wide objectives, and statutory compliance.
  • Supporting and challenging services to ensure their use of property assets is efficient, fit-for-purpose, and future-ready.
  • Facilitating joint working with partners, other public sector bodies, and voluntary organisations to support coordinated asset planning across the city.
  • Translating service needs into clear, deliverable asset management plans in collaboration with the Asset Strategy Manager.

Requirements:

  • A property related qualification and experience of providing pro-active property management in a large organisation.
  • Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills with ability to deliver professional advice to a wide range of service disciplines and to negotiate and complete a range of property transaction.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the management of public sector property.
  • You'll be experienced in property asset management, with a solid understanding of how property strategy impacts service delivery.
  • You will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - you'll be engaging with a wide range of colleagues across the Council, as well as external partners.
  • You'll be proactive, solutions-focused, and confident in challenging the status quo to drive improvements.
  • A strong understanding of relevant property legislation and the ability to deliver property-related projects and transactions is essential.
