Job Description

Substation Automation and Telecom Systems Inspector needed for a Major Offshore Wind Developer in Europe

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and supervise construction works for substation automation, signal, and telecom systems.
  • Participate in system tests for automation, signal, and communication systems on the offshore platform.
  • Review and apply relevant technical documentation (ITPs, test protocols, design drawings, specifications) on-site.
  • Identify, report, and document findings, deviations, and non-conformities.
  • Discuss issues and propose solutions with the client's engineering back office in English.
  • Coordinate and monitor suppliers/contractors for relevant scopes of work.
  • Ensure quality assurance in line with contractual scope and internal QS system.
  • Enforce client requirements and interests during daily installation and commissioning activities.
  • Maintain daily progress reports and clear documentation of inspection and commissioning work.
  • Organize operational coordination with internal and external site personnel involved in commissioning.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, repairs, reliability tests, and document associated results.
  • Prepare, update, and track snag lists in collaboration with contractors.
  • Review documents to clarify technical queries and support preparation for acceptance tests (e.g., quality plans, test plans, acceptance procedures).
  • Participate in partial and final acceptances at factory, shipyard, and offshore site.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE and QA procedures and report any non-conformities.
  • Transfer technical knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement of QA/HSE systems.
  • Stay informed on applicable permits and ensure their requirements are implemented on-site.

Requirements:

  • Relevant knowledge of SCADA, automation and control systems, signal tests, telcom systems in substations.
  • Experience with functional and signal testing, troubleshooting, and final acceptance of automation/telcom systems.
  • Relevant degree in electrical engineering or as an electrical/automation technician.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in QA and commissioning supervision and inspection.
  • Fluent in English (minimum B2 level; written & spoken).
  • Offshore certifications & valid trainings (e.g. GWO, HUET, medical, PSA)
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Own equipment: laptop, smartphone (incl. SIM), camera (smartphone sufficient), small tools.
