Senior Civil Structural Designer

Manchester or Teesside (with hybrid/remote flexibility)

Our Client has a requirement for a Senior Civil Structural Designer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Manchester or Teesside, with flexibility for remote working and occasional site/office visits as per project requirements.

Role Purpose of the Civil Structural Designer:

To support civil and structural design delivery across pipeline and infrastructure projects by producing accurate and timely CAD/BIM outputs including 3D models, drawings, and sketches. This role plays a key part in ensuring technical integrity, cross-discipline coordination, and compliance with project and industry standards.

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Produce 2D/3D designs and deliverables for civil and structural works, including both temporary and permanent structures.
• Use Aveva E3D for 3D BIM modelling and drawing extraction. Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD may also be used.
• Operate within a Common Data Environment (CDE), managing project data effectively.
• Prepare preliminary and detailed designs under the guidance of Senior, Principal, or Lead Engineers.
• Ensure draughting work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required technical standards.
• Apply relevant codes, standards, and internal procedures across all design tasks.
• Liaise with internal disciplines, clients, vendors, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate, coordinated outputs.
• Support project delivery by identifying and resolving design clashes and sequencing issues.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• HNC/HND or City & Guilds in Civil/Structural Engineering or relevant discipline.
• EngTech or IEng (ICE) qualification is an advantage.
• Proven experience in foundation design, below-ground infrastructure (e.g. drainage, ducting), steelwork, and concrete detailing.
• Knowledge of reinforced concrete detailing is highly desirable.
• Experience with 4D simulation, construction sequencing, and clash detection tools is beneficial.
• Strong proficiency in Aveva E3D, Civil 3D, and AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Sound understanding of relevant UK legislation, health & safety standards, and industry regulations.
