Job Description



Astute's Power team are currently recruiting for a HSEQ Advisor to join a the Operator on their Operational Waste to Energy facility in North Yorkshire. The HSEQ Advisor will have a hands on approach to ensure all health and safety is being adhered too on site.

The HSEQ Advisor comes with a day rate from 400.00 to 450.00 This role is a LTD Company role.

Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:


  • Provide hands-on HSEQ support across the operational Waste-to-Energy facility, ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality legislation.

  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks to identify hazards, assess risks, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Support and lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

  • Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and safety training to operational staff, contractors, and visitors.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with the site's Environmental Permit, including emissions, waste handling, and spill response procedures.

  • Maintain and update all HSEQ documentation, including risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), COSHH assessments, and safety plans.

  • Actively promote a strong safety culture by engaging with teams on-site and encouraging proactive hazard reporting.

  • Support internal and external audits (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001), ensuring readiness and contributing to continual improvement initiatives.

  • Track and report HSEQ performance metrics, producing monthly reports for management and regulatory bodies as required.

  • Liaise with regulatory agencies (e.g. Environment Agency, HSE) and ensure timely communication of any compliance matters or reporting requirements.


Location, day rate and timeframe of the HSEQ advisor position:

  • North Yorkshire
  • 400.00 to 450.00 per day Outside IR35
  • Immediate start date
  • 3 months initially (strong potential for an extension)
