Job Description

Shape the Future of Sustainable Process Manufacturing! Are you a process-led Project Engineering Manager with experience delivering complex engineering projects in pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, or high-integrity manufacturing environments?

This is a rare opportunity to take a pivotal role in delivering two large-scale, cutting-edge industrial projects backed by significant investment. These initiatives focus on sustainable fuel production, incorporating pharma-grade systems, advanced powder handling, and scalable processing technology from FEED through to final delivery.

You will be site-based near Preston, overseeing the engineering execution of:

  • A brand-new manufacturing facility, currently at the FEED stage.
  • An upgrade and scale-up programme, modernising existing infrastructure and building a new facility 1.5x larger to support expanded production capacity.

You will lead all aspects of project engineering, ensuring quality, safety, and technical excellence across the board.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project Delivery: Take full accountability for engineering execution across scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Engineering Leadership: Provide technical direction and ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Strategy & Scope Management: Define and manage engineering strategy, scope boundaries, and delivery methodologies.
  • Team Coordination: Lead coordination across internal teams and external contractors/suppliers.
  • Risk & Change Management: Identify, assess, and manage risks and changes to maintain control and project success.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage with key functions including the Centre of Excellence, HyCOgen Business, CT Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, Supply Chain, and Procurement.
  • Value & Innovation: Drive value engineering, continuous improvement, and a collaborative culture throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Team Development: Build and lead a high-performing, accountable engineering team.
  • CDM Compliance: Ensure robust application of CDM (Construction, Design and Management) Regulations at all phases.

Experience Required:

  • A relevant engineering degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or a related discipline; chartered status is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience in site-based, multidisciplinary project engineering roles within EPCm or similar delivery models.
  • Proven track record delivering complex projects from FEED through to construction and commissioning.
  • Previous exposure to pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, oil & gas, or advanced powder handling systems is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent working knowledge and application of UK CDM Regulations.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a hands-on approach to site delivery.
  • Outstanding stakeholder communication and engagement abilities.
