Senior Structural Design Technician - Tekla

  • Permanent, Full-time Location: Birmingham
  • Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:00-16:30 Friday 8:00-15:45
  • Salary: Up to 50,000 per annum (DOE)
  • Car Parking on-site

Overview:

We're looking for a skilled Senior Structural Design Technician to produce high-quality 3D models and technical drawings, manage design projects, and support stakeholders. You'll play a key role in ensuring design accuracy, project coordination, and continuous improvement.

This role is ideal for someone with strong technical skills in structural design, particularly in Tekla Structures, and a solid background in hot or cold rolled steel structures. You'll be responsible for producing high-quality 3D models and technical drawings, managing design projects, and supporting internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce detailed 3D models and technical drawings to industry standards

Manage personal workload and meet project deadlines

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors

Maintain accurate project documentation and records

Mentor junior staff and support quality assurance

Contribute to continuous improvement and design variation processes

Essential Skills & Experience:

Proficiency in Tekla Structures (required)

Experience in hot or cold rolled steel structure design (required)

Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and structural systems

Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Diploma or HNC in a construction-related discipline

Previous experience in a structural design role within construction or engineering

Additional Requirements:

Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites or design meetings

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
