Red Snapper Recruitment is working in partnership with the Kent Probation Service to recruit a qualified Probation Officer to join their Report Writing Hub.
This role focuses exclusively on the production of high-quality court reports to support sentencing decisions and public protection. It's ideal for a PO looking to use their analytical and written communication skills without the demands of case management.
Location: Kent Probation Service (Remote/Office-Based Hybrid may apply)
Contract Length: 10 months
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Pay Rate: 19.90 per hour (PAYE) or 26.20 per hour (via Umbrella)
Produce Pre-Sentence Reports (PSRs), both oral and written, for Magistrates and Crown Courts
Assess risks and needs using OASys and other probation tools
Make sentencing proposals in line with probation policy and legislative frameworks
Liaise with courts, solicitors, and probation colleagues to clarify instructions and ensure timely delivery of reports
Contribute to the effective functioning of the Report Writing Hub, supporting colleagues and ensuring consistency
Maintain accurate records and meet strict deadlines
Qualified Probation Officer (Diploma in Probation Studies, PQF, or equivalent)
Recent experience writing Pre-Sentence Reports
Strong understanding of sentencing guidelines, risk assessment, and offender rehabilitation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and contribute to team performance
Enhanced DBS check (can be arranged as part of onboarding)
