Job Description

  • We are pleased to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity to join a vibrant, forward thinking, friendly andsupportive team in the Earlsdon area of Coventry; part of Go West PCN. This is due to one of our much loved GP's relocating abroad. We are ahigh QOF achieving practice and pride ourselves on working collaboratively tosupport all team members. We are looking for a salaried GP to cover6 sessions inclusive of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with opportunity offurther sessions dependent upon the successful candidate. You will be a keypart of the practice team delivering high quality care to our patients.
  • Our Practice Director is is also aDirector for Coventry and Rugby GP Alliance. We have a active PatientParticipation Group whose members include Healthwatch representatives. Weoutsource our private reports and have strong links with communityorganisations.
  • Start date form August 2025
  • 6 weeks leave annually pro rata toinclude study leave.

  • We work to 15 minutes for all face toface appointments for our General Practitioners and work to rule as per BMAsafe working guidance

Main duties of the job
  • The salaried GP will play an integralrole in ensuring an integrated and focused healthcare provision relevant to thediffering needs of the patient population
  • The salaried GP will be part of amulti-disciplinary team providing a full range of general medical services topatient groups.
  • The post holder will manage acaseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting,ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporarypatients.

  • Kensington Road is a long-established NHS GP practice based in the Earlsdon area of Coventry.
  • Clinical skill mix consists of 1 GP Director , 2 x salaried GPs, 1 x Prescribing ANP, 1 Practice Nurse and a number of ARRS supporting Staff and full complement of administration and reception staff.
  • Opening hours are 8:30am to 6.30pm Monday - Friday

Job responsibilities
  • In accordance with Practicetimetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/herself available toundertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephoneconsultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signingrepeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence ina timely fashion.
  • Offer and carry out consultations andwhere appropriate, physical examinations for the purposes of identifying andreducing the risk of illness, disease or injury, including immediatelynecessary and temporary patients.
  • To carry out screening on patientsfor disease factors and early signs of illness; In consultation with patientsand in line with any current practice disease management protocols develop careplans for health;
  • To provide counselling and support topatients with Mental Health issues; To take clinical responsibility forregistered patients and maintain accurate, clear and contemporaneous recordsand notes of treatment given and NHS services provided.
  • To give advice to patients on generalhealth matters and in particular about the significance of risk activities i.e.use of tobacco, consumption of alcohol and the misuse of drugs and/or solvents;
  • To offer and provide, as appropriate,to individual patient needs, all immunisations which are currently available aspart of GMS;
  • To arrange for the referral ofpatients, as appropriate and for the provision of any other services asappropriate.
  • To deliver any enhanced services thatthe practice has contracted to deliver; Carry out reviews of medication prescribing;To prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (orgenerically) whenever this is appropriate.
  • Maintain appropriate levels and meansof communication with other agencies for whom care is being given to thepatients from who the practitioner is responsible.
  • Other Duties
  • Active participation/co-operation inthe management arrangements of the practice and in the work of the primaryhealthcare team;
  • Awareness of and compliance with allrelevant Practice policies/guidelines e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, dataprotection, health and safety etc.
  • Assist in the improvement of therange of services available to patients in the primary care setting to providegreater continuing care for patients.
  • Collect data for audit purposes i.e.prescribing QOF and contract delivery Contribute to evaluation/audit andclinical standard setting within the organisation including collecting data foraudits.
  • To take responsibility for their ownand other health and safety in the working environment
  • Attending training and eventsorganised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
  • Carry out such duties as may bereasonably required
