Job Description

This Rack Decom Manager will manage a team that executes the decommission, tracking, and audits of all media. This includes but is not limited to all media types (disks, solid state disks, flash cards, etc.). The Rack Decom Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all operational processes and SLAs are met and must guide and mentor the team to ensure all work is carried out safely and securely.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Routinely review ticket queue for large events and address accordingly.
  2. Coordinate change management resources.
  3. Guide, train, and educate data staff on best practices related to all service owner issues.
  4. Manage and deliver mid-size projects.
  5. Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and SLAs.
  6. Manage a diverse team of decom technicians with varying skills.
  7. Provide weekly reports to the Cluster Manager.
  8. Maintain the on-call schedule, coordinating absences and vacations.
  9. Recruit and train decom technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  10. Write and deliver performance reviews for staff.

Qualifications
  • Experience managing large-scale projects.
  • Experience leading an IT function or similar role.
  • Experience in management, team leadership, or training functions.
  • Experience managing IT infrastructure projects from initiation to closure.
  • Knowledge of project management best practices such as PMI, Waterfall, and Agile.
  • PMP Certification & Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
