Principal Infrastructure Engineer
Our client is a leading civil and structural engineering consultancy, looking for an experienced Principal Infrastructure Engineer to lead the delivery of infrastructure design services across a range of residential and commercial development projects. This role involves managing multi-disciplinary design teams, engaging with stakeholders, and overseeing all stages of infrastructure design from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as project lead on infrastructure design tasks, reporting to senior leadership.
Deliver infrastructure designs using AutoCAD and industry-standard software.
Serve as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders on assigned projects.
Lead negotiations with local authorities and statutory bodies for adoptable works (S104, S38, S278) and utility provision.
Oversee detailed design of private infrastructure to meet current standards and best practices.
Coordinate with architects, M&E consultants, and other team members to ensure integrated project delivery.
Conduct project reviews and value engineering to align with client goals and budgets.
Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, meeting technical, safety, and quality standards.
Produce technical reports, including planning support, utilities and flood risk assessments.
Technical Requirements:
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD; experience with PDS and WinDes is essential.
Understanding of Civil 3D is an advantage.
Familiar with CDM 2015 regulations and associated designer responsibilities.
Knowledge of current industry standards such as Sewers for Adoption, DMRB, and the CIRIA SuDS Manual.
Practical civil engineering design experience in roads, drainage, and site infrastructure.
Candidate Profile:
Degree or HNC-qualified in Civil Engineering.
5-10 years of consultancy experience in infrastructure design.
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status preferred (ICE or similar).
Proven ability to manage engineering teams and deliver complex projects.
Strong commercial awareness and ability to track project finances.
Effective communicator with strong leadership and team-building skills.
Comfortable working in a client-facing role.
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
