Service Care Solutions is currently supporting a Substance Misuse Charity and is seeking a permanent Counsellor to join their team. Candidates must have experience counselling clients with drug and alcohol-related issues, aged 16 and above.
Person Specification:
The role involves delivering high-quality therapeutic support to substance-misusing clients who access services via statutory or self-referral.
Role Purpose of a Counsellor:
- To provide counselling and support related to substance misuse.
- To communicate the client's vision and deliver its mission.
- To provide direct client services through group and individual work.
- To meet key service objectives in line with policies, procedures, and data collection systems.
Main Duties & Responsibilities of a Counsellor:
- Deliver structured therapeutic support through group sessions and one-to-one interventions.
- Contribute to regular reviews with probation, health workers, or other relevant agencies.
- Counsel individuals about their substance use using recognized theoretical models.
- Assist individuals in addressing substance use and offending behavior through action plans.
- Maintain records of client attendance and participation.
- Implement and supervise approaches, activities, and exercises to promote health and support detoxification/stabilization.
- Use recording and statistical systems to collect data and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
- Participate flexibly in activities responding to client needs.
Requirements of a Counsellor:
- Experience working directly with Substance Misuse clients.
- At least two years of direct client work experience.
- Experience developing and delivering therapeutic programs.
- Experience providing assessment and group work services.
- Experience working with statutory and non-statutory agencies in partnership.
Pay rates are as follows:
- £19.70 PAYE per hour (excluding holiday pay)
- £22.07 PAYE per hour (including holiday pay)
- £25 Umbrella rate per hour
