We are seeking a confident, experienced, and resilient Male SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team at a dynamic all-through special school in Solihull, supporting male pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
The school is split across 2 sites, supporting pupils between the ages of 2-19 years who have severe to profound multiple learning difficulties and a large proportion are on the autistic spectrum (SLD), (PMLD), (ASC).
This is a vital role working with young people who require high levels of structure, consistency, and emotional support. Special school experience is essential, and you must have proven experience managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in an educational or care setting. ASAP start on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups with tailored learning and behavioural strategies
Implementing behaviour support plans and using de-escalation techniques effectively
Assisting in the delivery of lessons and structured activities
Promoting emotional regulation, independence, and social development
Working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams to ensure consistency
Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and off-site activities
We are looking for someone who:
Has substantial experience in a special school or specialist provision
Team Teach trained - preferred
Is confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and complex needs
Demonstrates strong communication, patience, and emotional resilience
Can stay calm under pressure and follow behaviour management protocols
