We have an exciting opportunity to join our team working with schools and communities across Surrey. Surrey Wildlife Trust's vision is to create a county that is full of abundant and diverse wildlife; helping us adapt to a changing climate and supporting the health and wellbeing of all who live here. Our Team Wilder project aims to reach a wide and diverse audience, empowering people to create a natural environment that is more connected and more joined-up across Surrey. If you enjoy variety then this is a job for you! We work in schools and on our reserves delivering sessions and training, we support teachers to develop their confidence and skills in outdoor learning; and we motivate and assist the school community to improve the biodiversity of their school grounds and community spaces. We need knowledgeable and enthusiastic individuals who from the outset will be working independently on projects in schools but will also work as part of a team to regularly deliver family events and both formal and informal education. One of the posts will be coordinating our youth action committee helping to engage young people across Surrey. As such, the successful candidate will need to have a good understanding of online engagement and social media as well as being experienced in outdoor learning. To fulfil the other post we are looking for experience in aspects of practical habitat management as well as engagement work. The successful candidates will need to have experience working outdoors with young people, in formal education and informal settings and a full, clean driving licence as they will be expected to travel between our education centre at Nower Wood in Leatherhead and our project schools across the county. As we also engage with families, you must also be prepared to work occasional weekends and evenings. Every day TCV works across the UK to create healthier and happier communities for everyone - communities where our activities have a lasting impact on people's health, prospects and outdoor places. Based at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, TCV is looking for an enthusiastic, confident & competent Senior Project Officer. We need someone who can lead this brand new & exciting project by recruiting volunteers, engaging local people & making positive, impactful gains for wildlife. The role may involve working across a variety of green spaces, from orchards to ponds & wetlands to roof gardens & community growing spaces. You'll plan & lead at least two (sometimes more) volunteering sessions a week to deliver practical nature conservation work. This includes delivery of a health & wellbeing focused session, TCV's Green Gym & a weekly Biodiversity Action Team activity. Additionally, you'll plan & deliver nature themed community engagement events, which may include activities like leading citizen science sessions, nature themed arts & crafts or nature walks.
