Head of Operations
Better Tomorrow Ventures
About Outpost Global expansion is broken. Without a local entity, conversion rates fall, costs rise, and compliance gets messy. Outpost fixes it. Selling internationally is a maze of tax, payments, and operational friction. Most brands avoid it or expand slowly and expensively. Outpost is your modular back office for global commerce. Pick only what you need - tax, payments, treasury, or operations - and unlock new markets without the overhead. Sometimes we act as Merchant of Record, taking on tax and compliance risk. Other times, we give you the tools to do it yourself. We operate across 58+ tax jurisdictions for digital and physical goods. That means we own the full stack - payments, tax, compliance, treasury, and merchant experience. Sell anything, anywhere. Without compromise. The Role We're looking for our Head of Operations: the person who owns how Outpost actually runs. Today, operations at Outpost is a set of processes held together by a small group of very good people. Merchant onboarding, KYC/KYB, market launches, tax registrations, payouts, treasury approvals, chargebacks, merchant support - it all works, but it works because people push it. Your job is to turn that into a machine. This is a hands on leadership role, not a management layer. You'll own the operational stack end to end: onboarding and activation, merchant operations, payments and treasury ops, compliance monitoring, and new market launches. You'll design the processes, build the tooling requirements with engineering, write the playbooks, and then run them yourself until they're good enough to hand over. You'll hire and grow a small team behind you, but for the first stretch you are the team. If your instinct when something breaks is to open the dashboard and fix it rather than schedule a meeting about it, you'll do well here. You'll work directly with the CEO and founding team, and you'll have a real say in what Outpost builds - operations is the sharpest source of product signal we have. What You'll Get Yes, the work is intense. But in return, you'll get scope and exposure most people wait 10-20 years to access. You'll own a core function of a company solving one of the hardest problems in global commerce, work with senior stakeholders across PSPs, banks, tax authorities and merchants, and build a team from scratch. We won't handhold, but we'll coach you hard. What You'll Do Own the operational stack Own merchant onboarding end to end: applications, KYC/KYB, risk review, activation, time-to-live Run merchant operations day to day - support escalations, payouts, settlements, disputes Own treasury operations: proceeds requests, money movement, reserves, reconciliation Monitor merchant risk and compliance thresholds (chargebacks, fraud, refunds) and act before they become losses Own payment operations alongside engineering: auth rates, routing, decline recovery, chargeback and fraud strategy Build the system, not just the output Turn manual processes into documented, repeatable, measurable playbooks Define the operational metrics that matter and build the reporting so the company can see them Work with engineering to spec and prioritise internal tooling - you are the customer for our internal ops platform Kill work: automate, template, or delete anything that doesn't need a human Make Outpost able to double merchant volume without doubling ops headcount Launch and scale Launch new markets with full legal, tax, payments, and operational setup Onboard new PSPs, banking partners, and local acquiring in new geographies Build the operational side of new products and merchant segments before they go live Feed market and merchant reality back into the product roadmap Lead Hire, onboard, and grow a small operations team Set standards: what good looks like, how fast we respond, what we never get wrong Be the operational voice in company planning - what we can support, when, and at what cost Example Projects Redesign merchant onboarding to cut time-to-live by 50% without weakening KYB Build the operational launch playbook for three new markets and run the first one yourself Debug delays in payouts and fix them across engineering, ops, compliance, and PSPs Design reserve and settlement logic for a new merchant segment and implement it Build the ops metrics dashboard: onboarding funnel, time-to-live, ticket volume, payout SLA, chargeback rate Cut chargeback rate through better fraud tooling and merchant policy Spec the next version of our internal ops tooling with engineering and ship it Write the merchant VAT compliance playbook across EU markets with the tax team Hire and onboard the first two operations analysts and get them productive in 30 days What We're Looking For Ideal background: 6-10 years in operations at high-growth fintech, payments, or e commerce infrastructure (Revolut, Stripe, Adyen, Wise, Mollie, Airwallex, or similar) Has owned a function or a large slice of one - onboarding, merchant ops, payment ops, or risk ops - not just executed within it Experience building processes from zero, not inheriting them Bonus: MoR platforms (Global e, Digital River, Paddle), cross border tax exposure, or PSP/acquirer operations Comfortable with data - SQL, spreadsheets, dashboards. You measure before you decide Signals we care about: Ridiculous bias for action - you solve, not observe Systems thinker who still does the work - you fix the ticket and then remove the reason it existed Analytically strong - you can quantify a process, not just describe it Strong EQ - you know how to read a room, a customer, or a blocker Exceptionally hard working - you see work as a core part of your purpose Fluent in ambiguity and chaos - startups are not neat, this will be hard Curious and resourceful - you can figure anything out Comfortable getting hands dirty - your default mode is to do, not delegate Clear, quantified achievements on your CV (not vague descriptions) What this role is not: Not a people management role where you run a team that does the work Not a process maintenance role - nothing here is finished Not a single function specialist who wants to stay in payments, or compliance, or support Not someone who needs defined processes and hierarchy to be effective Why This Role Is Different This isn't about maintaining processes - it's about building the operating system of Outpost from the ground up. You won't just be in the room, you'll be writing the agenda. Operations at an MoR is not a back office function. It is the product. How fast merchants go live, whether money arrives on time, whether we catch risk before it costs us - that's what customers buy and where our margin lives. You'll own it. We expect whoever is in this role to grow rapidly, and we'll back you every step of the way. Outpost Team Our team were leaders at Revolut, Airwallex, Adyen and Wayflyer - and we're backed by top tier investors who have built or backed some of the world's leading fintechs. What We Offer Equity and salary in a well funded startup Ability to own your work and move fast World class training from operators who've scaled globally A global mission with real impact Low politics, high output Chance to grow into a senior leadership role A culture of builders, not talkers Working Style We work together in person in London 5 days a week. We believe the hardest problems are solved in the room. Reach Out Learn more Outpost Culture Outpost founder Outpost is where the hard problems are. If you want to help build the engine behind global trade, we'd love to hear from you.

Architect measurement frameworks and attribution models that track marketing's direct contribution to revenue, enabling real-time optimisation and investment decisions. Lead demand generation technology strategy, including MarTech stack, data integration, automation and AI-driven optimisation. Commercial Rigour & Performance Establish clear, ambitious marketing KPIs tied to enterprise pipeline, revenue influence, customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV) and return on marketing investment (ROMI). Use data, experimentation and customer insights to relentlessly optimise campaign performance and marketing spend allocation. Own revenue forecasting accuracy; partner with Sales leadership on pipeline health, deal acceleration and risk mitigation. Build a high-trust relationship with the CFO and Finance teams on marketing budget allocation, ROI tracking and resource planning. Drive a high-performance culture of commercial accountability, ownership and customer obsession across all marketing functions. Establish clear career paths and professional development for emerging marketing talent. Lead cross-functional alignment across Product, Sales, Customer Success and the broader executive team. Head of Engineering
EmpowerRD
About EmpowerRD R&D tax credits are a powerful but underused engine for innovation, and navigating them shouldn't require an army of consultants and months of back-and-forth. At EmpowerRD, we're changing that. We build software that makes claiming R&D tax relief transparent and genuinely empowering for the businesses and advisors who rely on us, with a vision to help every innovative company unlock the funding they deserve. Living by that mission has been the secret to our growth, and now we're at a pivotal moment in our journey. Every move we make has a direct impact on our customers, our product, and our collective success. We need people who take pride in understanding what drives outcomes, challenge the way things are done (respectfully), and always aim high. We can't say we've got this whole thing figured out, and frankly, that's half the fun. What we can say is that we're a driven, progressive, and, importantly, a kind team, all committed to building the future of R&D tax relief together. About the role We're looking for a Head of Engineering to join EmpowerRD's senior leadership team at a pivotal moment in our growth. You'll own the technology strategy end-to-end, shaping our architecture and engineering culture while accelerating innovation that differentiates us in the R&D tax market. You'll be the connective tissue between our product ambitions and the engineering capability that brings them to life, partnering closely with the CEO, Product, Operations and Marketing leadership. Who you'll be working with You'll sit at the senior leadership table, reporting into the CEO and working across the whole business. Day to day, you'll partner with the CEO, Head of Product, and our engineering and data teams. You'll also be the primary technology voice in conversations with Finance, Customer Success, Sales, and external technology vendors and partners. Our company virtues are: Be a truth seeker, Build Bridges, Empower Growth, Start and keep going, Foster Well-Being. We build strong cross-functional relationships, stay close to strategic priorities, and bring decisions grounded in data and evidence. What you'll be doing As Head of Engineering at EmpowerRD, you will: Develop, communicate, and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with our business goals and growth plans. Collaborate closely with the executive team, product, and other business units to understand technology needs and drive technology-enabled initiatives. Own and evolve the Data, Metrics and Insights that underpin the business. Oversee design and implementation of scalable, secure technology systems and infrastructure, ensuring alignment with security standards and best practice. Provide strong leadership, line management and mentorship to our engineering and data teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance. Oversee the Ways of Working and ensure teams have a full understanding of the software lifecycle and their roles within the process. Identify and mitigate technology-related risks, ensuring compliance with data privacy and security regulations and internal policies: you will be the DPO. Manage the technology budget, optimising resource allocation and ensuring cost-effective decisions. Manage relationships with technology vendors and partners, evaluating and selecting the most appropriate solutions. Stay close to the latest technology advances and provide strategic recommendations to keep EmpowerRD at the leading edge. What you bring Essential Five or more years of experience in a senior technology leadership role Deep understanding of software development methodologies and how AI has transformed these processes in recent years Many years of experience building technology platforms for organisations - you have the battle scars to show as well as depth of technical experience. Demonstrated success managing software development, systems architecture, infrastructure management, IT infrastructure, third-party services, cyber security and budgets Broad commercial understanding of how a SaaS business ticks and the teams and processes that drive growth Strong strategic thinking: the ability to translate business objectives into effective technology decisions through Data and discussion Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing technology teams Proven ability to deliver complex technology projects on time and within budget Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making A degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Valued but not required Experience in fintech, SaaS, professional services, or a regulated technology environment Hands-on experience with AI and Data platform tooling Familiarity with the R&D tax credit, Accounting or HMRC landscape Is this role right for you? This role is for you if: You're energised by setting the technology direction for a company, not just executing on a predefined plan. You're as comfortable discussing architectural trade-offs with engineers as you are presenting a technology roadmap to the CEO or delivering Town Hall updates to the company. You hold yourself and your teams to high engineering standards without letting perfection get in the way of progress. This role may not be for you if: You're looking for a steady-state technology management role rather than a building-and-scaling challenge. Engineering Manager, ML Infrastructure,
Apple Inc.
Selection changes the language of the page/content Engineering Manager, ML Infrastructure, London London, England, United Kingdom Software and Services Apple's cloud AI inference platform is growing quickly, and so is the organisation that builds it. We have a complex inference stack, a rapidly changing generative-AI landscape, and more responsibility than our current teams can hold - so we are looking for engineering managers to take ownership of components of that stack and lead the teams that build them. This role is based in London. Description Private Cloud Compute is the system that lets Apple Intelligence reach beyond the device without compromising a user's privacy: generative AI inference running in Apple's cloud, with verifiable privacy guarantees no other large-scale AI platform offers. It is the server software behind Apple Intelligence, and it is the critical function this organisation exists to deliver. The stack is deep. On-device client frameworks hand requests to a cloud service that attests, routes, and orchestrates them; an inference engine serves them; and model runtimes execute across heterogeneous hardware platforms, from Apple silicon to industry-standard accelerators, each with different performance characteristics and constraints. Cutting across all of it are the problems that decide whether the platform is fast, affordable, and operable: context and cache management, model asset management and lifecycle, throughput and latency, observability, and the developer and test infrastructure that everything else is built on.You would own set of components in this stack. The generative-AI landscape is a rapidly evolving and we are looking for managers with an agile mindset that are energized by change. You can hold a clear technical direction while the ground shifts and have a strong desire to help define our roadmap.Day to day you will hire, grow, and lead a team of engineers; own delivery against a roadmap you help set; lead design reviews and make architectural calls yourself when your team needs a decision; run a healthy on-call and incident practice; and partner across time zones with ML research, hardware and platform teams, security and privacy, SRE, and the product teams that depend on you. You will work with teams in London, Cupertino, and Seattle whose work spans low-level operating systems and accelerator runtimes through data-centre services, network protocols, and public APIs.You should be technically credible - you do not need to be the strongest individual contributor on the team, but you must be able to hold your own in a design review, read the code when it matters, and tell a good argument from a confident one. You should be able to absorb shifting priorities on behalf of your team rather than passing them along. And you should care about the privacy promise this platform makes to users; much of what makes the engineering here hard, and interesting, is that the usual shortcuts are not available to us. Responsibilities Build, coach, and retain a high-performing, inclusive team: hiring, onboarding, growth, feedback, and performance management. Take ownership of one or more areas of the inference stack, and be accountable for their delivery, quality, and technical direction. Set and defend a technical roadmap that stays credible as priorities and platforms change, balancing near-term delivery against longer-term investment. Partner across engineering, research, hardware, security and privacy, SRE, and product to deliver outcomes that span team boundaries. Hold a rigorous engineering bar: honest measurement, reproducible results, operational readiness, incident review, and documentation. Represent your team's work to senior leadership, and advocate for the resources and direction it needs. Develop technical leads within your team, delegating real architectural ownership rather than retaining it. Ensure the team applies privacy-by-design and secure-by-design principles throughout, particularly around what may and may not be observed or logged in a system handling user content. Minimum Qualifications Experience managing software engineers, including hiring, coaching, feedback, and performance management. A strong software engineering background in systems, backend, distributed systems, or platform work, with the ability to engage deeply and specifically in design trade-offs. Demonstrated ownership of delivery on an infrastructure or platform team: roadmap, sequencing, cross-team dependencies, and shipped results. An agile mindset and a track record of operating effectively in ambiguity - able to absorb rapidly shifting priorities without losing execution discipline or the team's trust. Excellent written communication, and effective working habits across geographies and time zones. UK/US collaboration particularly relevant. A genuine security and privacy mindset for systems handling sensitive user content. Preferred Qualifications Any strong combination of the following is interesting to us - we do not expect all of them: Experience with LLM inference or model serving at scale: batching and scheduling, KV-cache reuse, paged attention, prefix caching, disaggregated serving, speculative decoding, quantisation, or model parallelism. Experience with GPU or custom-accelerator performance work, and with the internals of an ML runtime or framework. Experience leading teams that own a platform other engineers build on, including API and compatibility stewardship across versions and hardware generations. Familiarity with production operations for latency-sensitive services: SLOs and error budgets, observability, capacity planning, canary and rollback discipline. Background in developer experience and build or test infrastructure, and a view on how to reduce cycle time without lowering quality. Working knowledge of Swift; systems-language experience (C++, Rust, Go) and Python tooling experience are all valuable here. Experience with privacy-preserving, security-sensitive, or attested systems, and with reasoning rigorously about what may be logged or measured. Experience growing a team from a small senior core, and developing engineers into technical leadership. At Apple, we're not all the same. And that's our greatest strength. We draw on the differences in who we are, what we've experienced and how we think. Because to create products that serve everyone, we believe in including everyone. Therefore, we are committed to treating all applicants fairly and equally. As a registered Disability Confident employer, we will work with applicants to make any reasonable accommodations. Apple will consider for employment all qualified applicants with criminal backgrounds in a manner consistent with applicable law. Learn more At Apple, we believe accessibility is a fundamental human right. You'll find that idea reflected in everything here - in our culture, our benefits and our digital tools. By welcoming as many perspectives as possible, we help you build a career where you feel like you belong. Learn about accessibility in Apple's workplace

Metaview is an AI company focused on recruiting. We build AI agents that help world-class companies hire with radically more speed and precision. We automate the toil, and augment the human for companies like Brex, affirm, Deel, ElevenLabs, and Airtable. Founded by Siadhal and Shahriar after their experiences scaling Uber and Palantir, we've raised over $50m from top-tier investors. Most recently, Google Ventures led our series B. We're growing 5x YoY, our customers are raving fans of the product, and our story has been covered in Fortune, Forbes, TechCrunch, and The Times. It's still day 0: Now is the time to re-engineer how work gets done with AI at the core, and our toughest challenges still lie ahead. We're looking for people seeking the hardest, most fulfilling work of their lives. How we work We operate with one core principle: velocity. In practice, this means we: Optimize everything we do around accelerating rate of learning. Do truly great work. Communicate openly and directly, and with full context. All while maintaining a hard-earned reputation for craft and quality. The role We're bringing accounting in-house for the first time. Collections, AP, and reconciling across our systems have all been running without a single owner, and that gap is exactly where you'll make your mark early. AI is also rewriting how accounting functions operate, and you'd be building our version of that as we scale, a modern, best-in-class finance function, not a legacy one with AI bolted on. This is a hands-on role reporting directly to the Head of Finance, with full ownership of the day-to-day money: collections, AP, payroll, bookkeeping, and month-end close across our US and UK entities. We're looking for someone qualified or well on the way who wants real ownership from day one. This is a genuine growth path - you'll take on more of our technical accounting, compliance and treasury work as you prove yourself. And we want someone who'd rather build the process than inherit one. Key ownership areas: Own collections and AP, the single point of contact for customers and vendors. Own bookkeeping, reconciliations, and month-end close across our US and UK entities. Own payroll and sales commissions, working directly with Sales and RevOps. Help select and implement the tools behind our finance stack, and keep spend under control. Build AI-driven automation into reconciliations, reporting, and close. What you bring Qualified, ideally with strong in-house experience (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent). You take a process and own it - you'd rather deliver finished work than ask permission at every step. You find building the playbook appealing. You double-check everything and usually catch what others miss. You're excited to use AI to make accounting work faster and more accurate, not just to use the tools you're handed. Bonus: exposure to multi-entity or cross-border (US/UK) accounting. What we offer The best co-workers you'll ever have, in an environment that fosters cohesion, collaboration, and performance. Supreme rate-of-learning as we re-orient how the world works with AI. High compensation, through cash and equity. All the benefits you'd expect and more.

Director, Forward Deployed Engineering
Scale AI, Inc.
At Scale AI, we're not just building AI tools-we're pioneering the next era of enterprise AI. The world's largest enterprises are racing to deploy Generative AI into the core of their operations, and Scale is the partner that gets them there. Our Forward Deployed Engineering team sits at the intersection of customer delivery and core platform development, embedding alongside customers to turn research breakthroughs into production systems that drive measurable business outcomes. We're hiring a Director of Forward Deployed Engineering to oversee delivery for our largest and most strategic accounts. You'll lead a team of elite engineers who embed directly with Fortune 500 customers to ship deeply integrated AI agents-owning everything from agent design and evaluation to the backend services, data systems, and cloud infrastructure that make them production ready. You'll partner closely with our Forward Deployed and Product teams to make sure we're shipping as efficiently as possible, turning hard won field lessons into reusable platform capabilities that compound our velocity over time. This is a high autonomy, founder mindset role. You'll own outcomes end to end, scale a team that can operate under pressure, and shape how AI adoption actually happens inside the world's biggest enterprises. Your success will be measured by how consistently your team ships, how durably those deployments stick, and how clearly the signal from the field sharpens our product roadmap. You Will Own delivery for our largest accounts. Lead end to end execution across our most strategic enterprise customers-scoping engagements, sequencing delivery, removing blockers, and making sharp trade offs between scope, speed, and quality to drive production adoption. Lead and grow the team. Hire, develop, and retain a world class team of Forward Deployed Engineers. Set the technical bar, establish hiring standards, and build onboarding and career frameworks that let the team scale without losing intensity. Provide holistic technical oversight. Maintain a deep working understanding of every layer of what we ship-agents, models, evaluations, backend services, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure-so you can review architectures, debug production issues, and raise the quality bar across every engagement. Partner with Product and core Engineering. Work closely with Forward Deployed, Product, and Platform teams to ensure we ship efficiently. Identify patterns across engagements and codify them into reusable platform capabilities, playbooks, and building blocks that make the next deployment faster than the last. Engage directly with customer leadership. Forge trusted relationships with senior stakeholders at Fortune 500 customers. Translate ambiguous business problems into concrete technical roadmaps with measurable outcomes, and represent Scale at the executive level. Enforce production excellence. Set and hold the standard for reliability, security, observability, and evaluation across deployed agents-making sure the systems we ship are genuinely enterprise ready, not just demo ready. Drive the feedback loop into product. Translate field insights into sharp, actionable input for Product and Research, influencing model choices, platform features, and roadmap priorities. Operate with founder mindset. Own outcomes without waiting to be asked. Move with urgency in ambiguous environments. Make sound calls under pressure and model the calm, focus, and judgment the team needs when stakes are high. Ideally You'd Have 10+ years of software engineering or technical delivery experience, including 3+ years leading high performing customer facing engineering teams (Forward Deployed, Solutions Engineering, Applied AI, or similar). A solid engineering background. You've led high pressure technical projects from prototype to production, and you're still comfortable whiteboarding system architectures, reviewing code, and debugging production issues alongside your team. Proven ability to scale a delivery team. You've built hiring bars, onboarding programs, and operating standards for technical organizations, and you've interviewed and hired at volume for senior engineering roles. Hands on fluency with the full AI stack. Deep familiarity with LLMs and agent systems, evaluation frameworks, backend and API design (Python or TypeScript), data systems (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, or similar), and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including Kubernetes, Docker, and IaC tooling. Experience deploying AI into complex enterprise environments, including navigating security reviews, identity/SSO, data residency, legacy integrations, and compliance requirements. A track record of turning field work into product leverage. You've codified repeatable patterns from customer engagements into tools, libraries, or platform features that scaled across the next wave of deployments. Strong cross functional leadership. You've aligned Sales, Product, Engineering, Research, and Customer Success around shared goals and delivered outcomes that required all of them to row in the same direction. Founder mindset. High autonomy, high motivation, high ownership. Comfortable operating with ambiguity, bias toward action, and the judgment to know when to ship and when to raise the bar. Exceptional communication. You can translate technical tradeoffs into decisions for executive and non technical audiences, and model the customer empathy you expect from your team.
