Head of Press - Palestine Accelerator (Remote Position)
Own The Space
The Palestine Accelerator is an initiative from Own The Space. It deploys strategic communications to create platforms for Palestinians to be heard around the world, creating the conditions for political action. The Accelerator works on political prisoners, cultural silence, the bias in digital platforms and more. It delivers large-scale creative interventions, breakthrough social content and top-tier media designed to change the narrative and shift power. This is a remote position. We're looking for a Head of Press to lead our media strategy and shape global discourse around justice, human rights, and political accountability for Palestine, with a core focus on political prisoners. You will be the strategic lead for all press work, working alongside campaigners, creatives, and policy experts to shape and shift public discourse around justice, human rights and political accountability for Palestine. This is a senior role for someone with deep media experience, sophisticated tradecraft in message development and media placement, and an uncompromising commitment to accuracy and credibility. You will understand how narratives are built, contested, and reshaped, and you'll help us amplify stories that challenge power, inspire solidarity and reframe the debate. This role is ideal for someone with senior-level experience in political communications, media relations or journalism, who wants to play a direct role in centering stories from and about Palestine, connecting them with millions of people around the world. What You'll Do: Lead the global press strategy for the Palestine Accelerator's work on political prisoners, setting direction, tone, and standards for all media work. Drive coverage of Palestinian justice issues across leading international outlets. Ensure accuracy across all press output - setting editorial standards and rigorous fact-checking processes. Apply advanced tradecraft in message development, media timing, and framing to maximize reach and impact. Quickly establish and maintain strong relationships with key journalists, editors and producers across major media outlets in the US, UK, Germany, France and beyond. Write compelling press materials including statements, press releases, and media briefings. Lead rapid response to breaking news cycles, ensuring clarity, consistency and credibility under pressure. Collaborate closely with campaigners, creatives and policy experts to align messaging and integrate press activity into broader campaign goals. Monitor and assess media impact, providing expert insight and feedback to continuously refine strategy. You have: 7+ years of experience in media relations, journalism, or political communications, with significant international experience. A demonstrated record of shaping major media coverage on political, human rights, or justice issues. A deep understanding of the Levant region, including political dynamics, civil society landscapes and the sensitivities around international coverage. Existing relationships with journalists in major western media outlets, or the confidence and credibility to build them fast. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, message discipline, and ability to write quickly and clearly for different audiences and formats. Strong political judgment, particularly on issues related to Palestine; ability to navigate complex issues and respond to fast-changing situations. A strong sense of how narratives are built, contested, and spread - and the motivation to shape them toward justice. Requirements: Minimum 7 years' experience in media relations, journalism, or political communications Personal motivation to work on issues impacting Palestine Strong written English; proficiency in Arabic, German or French a plus Comfortable working across time zones and remotely within a small, creative team Ability to write and respond under pressure and on deadline Preference given to candidates in UK, SWANA, European and EST time zones Core Attributes: Below are the core attributes we think will make you successful and happy in the role.
