Fawkes & Reece West are currently working with an established M&E client based near Bridgend, who are looking to appoint an experienced Part-Time Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of a major M&E refurbishment project. The project involves the refurbishment of an established hotel and spa complex in Windsor, with the successful candidate primarily working from the client's Bridgend office and making occasional visits to the Windsor site as required. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with an M&E background to join a live project on a flexible, part-time basis for approximately 11 months. The Role As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing commercial support and ensuring effective financial management throughout the project. Key responsibilities will include: Managing the commercial aspects of M&E refurbishment works. Preparing, reviewing and managing project budgets and cost plans. Managing subcontractor accounts, valuations and payments. Reviewing and agreeing variations, change orders and compensation events. Monitoring project costs and providing accurate financial reporting. Assisting with forecasting, cash flow and cost-value reconciliation. Reviewing subcontractor applications for payment and preparing valuations. Managing final accounts and ensuring costs are accurately captured. About You The successful candidate will ideally have: Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the M&E / building services sector. Experience working on refurbishment projects, ideally within commercial, hospitality, hotel or similar environments. Strong understanding of M&E subcontract packages and associated commercial processes. Proven experience in subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts. Strong commercial and financial management skills. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to analyse costs effectively. Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures. Strong communication and negotiation skills. The ability to work independently and manage your own workload. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and relevant commercial/project management software. A flexible approach to working 2-3 days per week, primarily from the Bridgend office. Qualifications & Professional Memberships A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline would be desirable. The Role As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing commercial support and ensuring effective financial management throughout the project. Experience working on projects valued at £30m-£50m+ . Strong knowledge of JCT and/or NEC forms of contract. Excellent understanding of subcontract administration and contractual obligations. Strong commercial and financial awareness. Proven negotiation, influencing and supplier management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
