Citibank (Switzerland) AG
Head of AI Solutions, COO Technology - MD (C16) page is loaded Head of AI Solutions, COO Technology - MD (C16)Applylocations: London United Kingdomposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: Citi's COO Technology organization is building one of the most consequential AI platforms in global financial services - and this is the role that leads it.The Head of AI Solutions is a newly created, executive-level position with a clear mandate: architect a unified AI strategy, build a world-class engineering team, and deliver production-grade AI at scale across the operational nerve center of a global bank. This is not a coordination or advisory role. It is a builder's role - one with the budget, the mandate, and the organizational reach to make it real. You will own the AI strategy and delivery capability across a $200M+ technology portfolio spanning some of the most operationally complex domains in banking: KYC, fraud detection, wholesale lending operations, global reconciliations, cash management, payments control, non-financial regulatory reporting, payroll, and international operations . The scale is significant, the problems are highly complex at this stage, and the impact is direct - the solutions you build will influence how trillions of dollars in transactions flow daily, how regulatory risk is managed, and how Citi's operational infrastructure evolves over the next decade.Unlike a role at a pure-play technology company, you will be solving AI challenges where failure has regulatory and systemic consequence - and where success reshapes the economics and resilience of critical global operations. The ambiguity is real, the stakes are high, and the opportunity for lasting impact is unmatched. This role reports directly to the Head of COO Technology. Responsibilities: AI Strategy & Platform Architecture: Define and own the multi-year AI strategy for the COO Technology portfolio; translate business intent into a concrete, milestone-driven execution roadmap with measurable outcomes Develop architecture blueprints and end-to-end systems design for Generative AI and agentic workflows across diverse operational domains Build the shared AI platform - reusable models, tooling, guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and accelerators - that reduces duplication, lowers cost, and enables faster adoption across COO Establish and enforce engineering standards, architectural guardrails, and development patterns across all AI initiatives Define a rigorous total cost of ownership model for developing, deploying, and sustaining AI in production Identify and evaluate emerging GenAI technologies, foundation models, and agent frameworks - and make deliberate, defensible decisions on where to build, buy, or partner Production AI Delivery at Enterprise Scale Lead end-to-end delivery of AI solutions across high-complexity, regulated operational environments - from architecture through production deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement Drive the agentic product development lifecycle: runtime harness design, evaluation frameworks, human-in-the-loop workflows, feedback loops, and production readiness criteria Manage cross-functional delivery spanning engineering, product, data, architecture, cyber, risk & compliance, and operations Proactively identify and resolve dependencies, critical path risks, and systemic delivery blockers; ensure on-time, on-budget execution Ensure all AI solutions meet production-grade standards: stability, scalability, auditability, explainability, and regulatory compliance Executive Partnership & AI Governance Serve as the senior AI executive point of contact for COO function leads - partnering directly with the Heads of Core Operations Technology, Shared Services Technology, and Controls Technology Lead AI governance forums and Architecture Review Boards; establish clear decision rights and review cadences across the portfolio Translate complex technical realities into clear, compelling narratives for senior non-technical audiences - including COO, CIO, and regulatory stakeholders Develop executive-level communications - steering committee materials, portfolio dashboards, and milestone tracking - that improve decision velocity and reduce execution risk Ensure full adherence to Citi's internal policies, risk and control frameworks, model risk management (MRM) standards, and applicable regulatory requirements Building the AI Engineering Organization Build, structure, and lead a high-performing AI engineering function aligned to COO's operational priorities - including team topology, operating model, and career pathways Foster a culture of technical excellence, intellectual curiosity, and pragmatic innovation: engineers who ship production solutions, not prototypes Own and manage the AI technology portfolio budget ( $200M), driving disciplined funding allocation, financial transparency, and cost-to-serve accountability Lead productivity and efficiency programs with measurable targets across cycle time, quality, throughput, and engineering leverage Define and optimize vendor and partner strategy, including strategic AI platform partnerships (e.g., Google, Anthropic), third-party tooling, and outsourced delivery models Qualifications: 15+ years of experience in Technology - Required: Generative AI & LLM Engineering: Deep, hands-on expertise in large language models including model selection, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector database design, and evaluation methodologies. Best in Business, and LinkedIn Top Startups. Your Role This is a founding role. You will be the first Enterprise Architect on the ground in EMEA, standing up the function end-to-end: the playbooks, the reference architectures, the technical discovery motion, and the deal patterns that every future EA will inherit. You'll personally engage on our most strategic pursuits across the business - Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 prospects with SAP-dominant landscapes, complex multi-entity structures, and e-invoicing mandates that don't exist in other regions. You'll work directly with the Global SE leader and partner with Sales, Solution Engineering, Product, and Customer Success leaders. What you build here will shape how Zip sells and delivers across Europe for years. Please note this is a hybrid role out of our London office. What you'll do Win the deals that define the region: Act as the senior technical voice on strategic pursuits - leading discovery with customer CTOs, CIOs, and Chief Procurement Officers, and closing the architectural gap between their landscape and Zip. Build the EA function from zero to one: Create the foundational assets - customer system landscape templates, reference architectures, integration capability matrices, security & compliance packets, objection response libraries - and set the bar for how EA shows up in deals. Own the system integration narrative: Lead the technical story on how Zip integrates with SAP (ECC, S/4HANA, Ariba), Oracle, Workday, Netsuite, Coupa, and adjacent systems. You are responsible for translating the customer landscapes into credible integration plans using our proprietary middleware. Navigate EMEA-specific complexity: Guide customers through e-invoicing mandates (Peppol, France Chorus Pro, Italy SDI, Germany's B2B mandate), GDPR, DORA, and multi-entity/multi-currency rollouts. Bridge GTM and Product: Translate customer requirements into clear product inputs. Influence roadmap prioritization with evidence, not opinion. Enable the field: Coach Solution Engineers and Account Executives on technical positioning, objection handling, and executive-level architectural conversations. Qualifications 15+ years in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, pre-sales engineering, or product roles at B2B SaaS, iPaaS, or ERP / system-of-record vendors. Deep domain knowledge: Knowledgeable about the full intake-to-pay lifecycle and how data moves between systems Strong command of the ERP ecosystem: You understand APIs, data models, and integration patterns across SAP(Ariba, S/4HANA, ECC), Oracle, Workday, Coupa, Ivalua, Jaggaer, and others. Hands on fluency with integration architecture and middleware: iPaaS (MuleSoft, Boomi, Workato), REST APIs, event driven patterns, ETL. Proven success selling into or implementing at Fortune 500 / FTSE 100 customers across multiple EMEA geographies. TOGAF/Zachman/IBM Certified along with EA. Track record of owning RFPs, security reviews, and PoCs at enterprise scale. Comfort operating as the senior technical voice in a room with CIOs, CFOs, and CPOs. Nice to have Experience standing up a function, team, or regional practice from the ground up. Working knowledge of EMEA e invoicing mandates and regulatory regimes (GDPR, DORA) Experience at a category defining, high growth SaaS company or Big 4 Consulting Experience. Multilingual - French, German, or Spanish a plus. Perks & Benefits At Zip, we're committed to providing our employees with everything they need to do their best work. Start up equity Health, vision & dental coverage Catered lunches & dinners for in office employees Commuter benefit Team building events & happy hours Unlimited PTO Apple equipment plus home office stipend 5% Employer Pension Contribution Travel This role requires approximately 30% travel across EMEA to meet with strategic prospects, customers, and partners, and to join key industry events. We're looking to hire Zippers and that means hiring people who take ownership, communicate openly, have an underdog mindset, and are excited to increase the pace of innovation for every business in the world. Spectrum IT Recruitment
Contract Principal Software Architect
Spectrum IT Recruitment Uxbridge, Middlesex
Spectrum IT are working with an enterprise digital platform to recruit a Contract Principal Software Architect to support their widely used, real-world consumer technology platform. This is an O UTSIDE IR35 role, for an initial 6 months contract and will be hybrid working: 2 days onsite in Uxbridge per week. This is a brownfield architecture environment . The successful architect will not be designing a new platform from scratch. Instead, they will be working within a live production estate, balancing existing technology, legacy decisions, technical debt, team structures and commercial priorities against the need to improve scalability, resilience, maintainability and customer experience. The role therefore requires a pragmatic, delivery-focused architect who can understand where the platform is today, identify the areas that genuinely need to change, and work with engineering teams to make those improvements incrementally. The Role You will play a key role in defining and guiding the technical architecture underpinning the organisation's products and whole platform. The focus will be on creating a coherent, scalable and maintainable technology landscape, while supporting the incremental evolution of existing systems. You will work closely with Engineering, Product, Platform and Technical Operations teams to make pragmatic architectural decisions that support both immediate delivery and longer-term platform strategy. This is not a purely strategic architecture role. The successful contractor will need to be comfortable getting into the detail of system design, service boundaries, integrations, data ownership, cloud architecture and non-functional requirements, while providing technical direction across multiple engineering teams. Key Responsibilities Define and maintain architectural principles, standards and target-state designs across the technology landscape. Provide architectural leadership for complex initiatives, system changes and cross-platform integrations. Define clear service boundaries, ownership models and integration patterns . Support engineering teams in delivering scalable, maintainable and well-structured solutions. Assess existing systems and identify opportunities to simplify, consolidate and modernise platform capabilities. Support the evolution of legacy systems towards agreed target-state architectures through pragmatic, incremental change. Make and guide technical decisions around distributed systems, APIs, integrations, data and cloud architecture . Ensure security, resilience, observability, performance and scalability are incorporated into solution designs. Identify architectural risks, technical debt and platform constraints, and establish appropriate mitigation strategies. Provide technical review and architectural guidance for significant changes across multiple engineering teams. Work closely with Engineering and Product leadership on major technical decisions and platform roadmaps. Promote consistent architectural standards, engineering quality and technical decision-making. Act as a trusted technical advisor across complex, cross-functional technology initiatives. Support and mentor senior engineers and technical leads, helping embed architectural thinking within delivery teams. Required Skills & Experience Strong commercial experience working as a Software Architect / Principal Architect within complex software environments. Proven experience designing distributed systems and modern software platforms . Strong understanding of software architecture patterns, APIs, integrations and cloud-based systems. Experience operating within Microsoft Azure or another major cloud environment. Demonstrable experience defining service boundaries, ownership models and integration patterns . Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL data technologies and the architectural considerations involved in selecting appropriate data stores. Experience working with transactional systems where data integrity, consistency, resilience and reliability are critical. Strong understanding of non-functional architecture, including security, scalability, performance, observability and resilience . Experience modernising or evolving existing platforms incrementally, including working with legacy systems and technical debt. Technical Environment .NET / C# Microsoft Azure Python Node Distributed and service-based architectures REST APIs and integrations SQL and NoSQL data technologies Cloud infrastructure and platform services Modern DevOps and CI/CD practices GitHub Jira Confluence What We're Looking For This role would suit a software focused architect who is comfortable operating between high-level architecture and hands-on technical detail. You'll be able to look at a complex existing platform, understand where the architectural problems and constraints sit, and then work with engineering teams to determine what should change, why it should change, and how to get there pragmatically. For more information and to submit your interest, please apply with an updated CV. Candidates for this role must be within a commutable distance of Uxbridge due to the hybrid working requirement.
