Your new company A Merseyside-based college has approached Hays looking for an interim Head of IT to join their college management team. This will be for a period of 3-6 months initially. This role will be on site 5 days a week and could be needed at multiple campuses. The hours will be Monday - Friday (Apply online only) with a 1-hour lunch break. Your new role You will be leading the IT services, network and reprographic departments. You will have 12 direct reports, and you will be reporting to the Deputy CEO and CFO. You will be responsible for developing and delivering the college's digital strategy, modernising IT infrastructure, supporting new initiatives and technologies and ensuring the security and integrity of the college network. Key responsibilities: Manage and develop the IT Team and drive performance management Provide leadership to the technical IT service desk team, network team and reprographics department. Manage projects such as Windows 11 rollout and cyber essentials Work with DCEO to define relevant polices and ensure compliance Analyse business requirements of all departments to determine current and future technology leads Ensure robust IT and network security arrangements are in place, maintaining cybersecurity arrangements What you'll need to succeed In order to succeed, you will need: Experience of working in Education Experience of developing and leading the delivery of IT within the business Proven experience of maintaining robust IT and network security Extensive knowledge of cloud technologies, including Office 35 and Microsoft Azure Knowledge and experience of Cybersecurity, data protection and compliance with GDPR Knowledge of AI Knowledge of Windows 11 Experience of managing a team Stakeholder management and experience of leading effective and responsive IT service desk functions. VMware Engineer - Must have a valid DV Clearance We are seeking a VMware Engineer to join an established deployment team working on a major hardware rollout for a large government account. You will play a key part in the configuration and deployment of ESX devices as part of a wider infrastructure programme. Key Responsibilities: Build and configure VMware ESX hosts according to detailed build guides within a project deployment environment. Install hardware onsite, including racking and cabling activities as required. Provide remote support during hardware testing phases to assist with technical validation. Engage with internal service teams to ensure successful handover and support of newly deployed hardware. Deliver regular updates on progress and issues to the Project Manager and team leads. Support occasional out-of-hours work due to the nature of customer operations.
