There is also a Department Lead, who specialises in Food and oversees both subjects as well as DT. All teachers within the department are very committed and are part of the wider Creative, Technical and Wellbeing Faculty. At KS3 students are on rotation of Design Technology, Food, Music and ICT. In Year 7, students build their digital literacy by using a range of software and web apps. They learn how to communicate respectfully online, explore cyberbullying, and cover key Esafety topics while gaining hands on experience with computers and common applications. They are introduced to networks, the Internet and smart devices, and they begin block-based programming, learning sequence, selection and iteration. In Year 8, students deepen their digital literacy through practical work with varied software and online tools. They extend their programming knowledge by creating more advanced Scratch projects and learning how subroutines help structure programs. They study binary, denary conversion and basic logic gates using truth tables. Students apply computational thinking through flowcharts and pseudocode and are introduced to Python, where they practise sequence, selection, iteration and debugging syntax errors. In Year 9, students build on their existing knowledge with a strong focus on programming, cybersecurity and data science. They revisit binary and explore how computers store different types of data, including images and audio. Their Python skills develop further through work on programming constructs, data types and libraries such as random. Students then use these skills in a substantial programming project involving planning, development, testing and evaluation, supported by effective use of subroutines. At KS4, students follow the GCSE Computer Science specification, which combines programming and theory. They rapidly develop their coding skills and complete a substantial programming project using all required constructs. Theory lessons cover the core GCSE content, including Computer Systems, Boolean Logic, Algorithms, Cybersecurity and Data Representation, while programming lessons focus on applying techniques to exam style problems. A leading independent school in London requires an ICT & Computing teacher from September 2026. Essential: Prior experience teaching Computer Science at KS5 or applications from strong ECTs or postgraduates would also be warmly considered. Full support would be provided for the ECT Induction. Desired: Experience teaching Computer Science at A level and a background in the independent sector would be a bonus; however, this is certainly not essential. State-of-the art facilities highlight all areas of the school. Pupils are taught how to think analytically and independently, preparing them for our ever-changing world. Academic rigour is underpinned by an equally strong and nurturing pastoral care provision.
