Key Responsibilities CAD / Revit Duties Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D BIM models for MEP systems including mechanical, electrical, public health, fire alarm, and containment Develop models and drawings from engineering sketches and specifications Manage drawing revisions and ensure all documentation is kept up to date Review and check work for accuracy and completeness prior to senior review Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to gather and coordinate design information Support project delivery to agreed timescales and budgets Ensure all outputs align with internal BIM standards, protocols, and CDE requirements Attend project meetings and BIM coordination workshops where required BIM Coordination Take ownership of BIM deliverables on allocated projects Ensure compliance with BIM standards and project protocols across all models Quality & Compliance Support quality assurance processes and contribute to audits Identify and help implement best practice improvements Training & Development Participate in regular reviews and training aligned to a personal development plan Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members where appropriate About You Minimum 3+ years' experience using Revit within the building services sector Background within an M&E consultancy or contractor environment (or similar) Strong working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Good understanding of BIM processes and coordinated design delivery Excellent communication and teamwork skills Self-motivated, organised, and able to meet deadlines Applications are also welcomed from experienced AutoCAD users looking to transition into Revit. This creates an excellent opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who wants to be part of a high-performing, progressive engineering team. Your new role As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer based in the Birmingham office, you will play a key role in delivering mechanical building services designs across a wide range of public and private sector projects.Your responsibilities will include: Leading mechanical design work from concept through to completion. Producing detailed mechanical calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Coordinating with electrical, sustainability, architectural, and structural teams. Attending client, contractor, and design team meetings as a senior representative of the mechanical discipline. Supporting and mentoring junior engineers to help strengthen the Birmingham team. Contributing to improvements in digital engineering, design standards, and technical delivery. Supporting the wider M&E leadership as the organisation grows its sector footprint. What you'll need to succeed Strong experience in mechanical building services design within the UK. Ability to handle projects independently and lead design packages confidently. Good understanding of building regulations, design standards, and mechanical engineering principles. Experience with mechanical building services software and tools (e.g., IES, Hevacomp, Revit beneficial). Confident communication skills and experience representing your discipline in meetings. A willingness to support junior engineers and contribute to team development. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent). Desirable but not essential: Chartered or working towards Chartership. Experience in Blue Light, Education, Higher Education, Healthcare, or similar sectors. Exposure to secure or government projects (MOD) - not required.
