The Mental Health Team ethos includes supporting recovery in a safe and therapeutic environment, with a view to supporting transition back into the mainstream prison environment or, alternatively, transfer to a hospital inpatient facility. New assessments are normally slotted into prearranged out-patient Clinics if the new assessments are generated from the referral system. All referrals are triaged by the In-Reach Team. On average, 2-3 assessments per week are requested as an emergency from the wings or segregation unit. Substance misuse service: The IDTS (Integrated Drug Treatment Service) is integrated along with mental health and primary care to provide a fully integrated health and wellbeing model of care. The primary aim being to provide better-integrated care for prisoners with closer collaboration between teams and a reduction in duplications of assessments and a more rapid access to care. The substance misuse service currently consists of a lead consultant dually trained in addictions and forensic psychiatry, working part time, an addictions specialist psychiatrist and a visiting addictions trainee psychiatrist ST 7 supported by a team of substance misuse nurses. The service has additionally recruited 1.5 NMP's to support the addictions team. The clinical IDTS service works hand in hand with CGL who provide the psychosocial/recovery input to the prison. Working alongside Gab are 3 other vets all of whom have been with the practice for over 6 years, one having left and then returned they love it so much, and one having been with the practice since day one - testament to the wonderful practice culture! Not only that but 2 of the team are already certificate holders, 1 in ophthalmology and another in imaging so there's always plenty of learning and development opportunities for new vets joining us! There's always time to catch up on admin throughout the day, time for a lunch break and once monthly we hold a more detailed clinical meeting too. The role is full time, averaging 40 hours a week and including 1.5 weekends in every 5, with Mondays off following the weekend you work. There are no OOH. About you Ideally, we'd like our new colleague to have a minimum of 1 years' experience in a UK small animal practice and be competent in routine procedures and all aspects of consulting and client care too.
