Key Responsibilities Payment Systems Ownership & Architecture Own payment microservices end-to-end - design, build, deploy, and operate Node.js services (orders, payment, reconciliation, virtual accounts, payout orchestration) handling real-time financial transactions at scale. Design for correctness and failure: idempotent, retry-safe, reconciliable systems where every transaction is traceable, auditable, and recoverable (partial failures, webhook replays, duplicate detection, distributed state machines). Architect for scale and resilience across a distributed microservices architecture; make service-boundary and build-vs-buy decisions; address root causes rather than symptoms. Banking & Partner Integrations Drive integrations with banking and payment partners (e.g. banking and card providers / risk providers) - API contracts, webhook handling, sandbox-to-production rollout, and reconciliation logic across multiple rails (ACH, SEPA, Faster Payments, wires). Work with Risk, Compliance on KYC, AML, and fraud-control touchpoints in the payment flow. Infrastructure, CI/CD & Operations Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) - automated testing, blue/green or canary deployments, and rollback strategies for services that cannot tolerate downtime or data loss. Operate infrastructure on AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, RDS, CloudWatch); contribute to infra-as-code, monitoring, alerting, and on-call runbooks for payment-critical systems. Optimize the data layer: schema design and query performance in MongoDB, caching and rate-limiting strategies with Redis, and safe migration patterns for high-volume transactional collections. Participate in on-call for payment-critical services, including incident response and postmortems. Technical Leadership & Collaboration Lead technical roadmaps - break down large, ambiguous payments initiatives into shippable milestones; write design docs/RFCs; drive consensus across Engineering, Product, Risk, and Operations. Mentor and raise the bar - review code and designs, coach mid-level engineers, and help hire and grow the team. Uphold security and compliance best practices for handling PII/financial data in a regulated, PCI-DSS-adjacent environment. What We're Looking For 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a significant portion building backend/distributed systems; prior experience in fintech, payments, on-and-offramp provider, or banking infrastructure strongly preferred. Strong hands-on expertise in Node.js (TypeScript preferred) for performant, production-grade backend services. Deep experience with MongoDB - schema design, aggregation pipelines, indexing strategy, and performance tuning at scale. Proficiency with Redis - caching, distributed locks, rate limiting, and pub/sub patterns. Proven experience designing and operating microservices architectures, including inter-service communication (REST/gRPC/event-driven via SQS/Kafka,ELK,New relic, Mixpanel), service discovery, and API contract design. Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, with hands-on experience using Jenkins (pipeline-as-code, multi-stage builds, automated test gates). Working knowledge of AWS infrastructure - ECS/EKS/Lambda, VPC networking basics, IAM, S3, RDS, CloudWatch; infra-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation) is a plus. Strong grasp of distributed systems fundamentals: idempotency, eventual consistency, retries/backoff, circuit breaking, and failure isolation. Track record of owning a service or domain end-to-end in production, including on-call responsibility. Excellent written communication - comfortable authoring design docs/RFCs and explaining trade-offs to engineers and non-technical stakeholders (Risk, Ops, external partners). Nice-To-Haves Experience with payment rails (ACH, SEPA, Faster Payments, SWIFT/wires) or card processing. Familiarity with banking partner integrations, webhook-driven reconciliation, or ledger/double-entry accounting systems. Exposure to KYC/AML/fraud tooling. Experience at a fintech/crypto-native company, payments processor, or Big Tech payments org. Prior experience operating in a regulated environment (FCA, EMI/PI licensing context), given the UK/EU banking scope of this role.

Reporting to: Petr Znamenskiy, Group Leader Contract term: This is a fixed term (36 months) position on Crick terms and conditions of employment. About us The Francis Crick Institute is Europe's largest biomedical research institute under one roof. Our world-class scientists and staff collaborate on vital research to help prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative conditions. The Crick is a place for collaboration, innovation and exploration across many disciplines. A space where the brightest minds can pursue big and bold ideas and discover answers to crucial scientific questions. We support them in a dynamic environment which fosters excellence with state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge facilities, and a creative and curious culture. We've removed traditional boundaries of departments, divisions and disciplines and instead have an open approach that supports every researcher. This gives us the freedom to take risks and carry out high-quality, pioneering research. Creating a space for discovery without boundaries helps us to turn our science into benefits for human health and the economy. The Research Group The Znamenskiy lab studies the relationship between in vivo function, synaptic organization, and molecular identity of cortical neurons. Using the primary visual cortex as a model, we aim to understand how connections between neuronal cell types are organized and how this organization enables the computations they perform. To achieve this, we combine systems and molecular neuroscience approaches and develop new tools to relate gene expression and connectivity to neuronal activity. Our current research focuses on how visual cortical circuits enable animals to interpret the three-dimensional structure of visual scenes. Details of research projects currently being undertaken can be seen at . About the role We are looking for a collaborative, individual to support the lab's spatial transcriptomics pipeline using a custom-built in situ sequencing platform, helping to link in vivo function, gene expression and connectivity of cortical neurons. Individual cortical neurons receive thousands of synaptic inputs and send long-range projections that often broadcast output to multiple target structures. How these connectivity patterns relate to the molecular makeup of individual cells remains poorly understood. To address this question, we combine high-throughput reconstruction of neuronal connectivity using molecular barcodes with single-neuron gene expression analysis through in situ sequencing. Using custom-built in situ sequencing platforms, we measure the expression of hundreds of genes in intact tissue sections alongside viral barcodes, which are used to reconstruct synaptic connections and map projection patterns of individual neurons. We welcome applications from candidates at different stages of their scientific career so this would be an excellent opportunity for recent graduates. Appointment can be made at either Laboratory Research Scientist or Senior Laboratory Research Scientist level, commensurate with experience and achievements. All training will be provided in house. What you will be doing Preparing tissue for in situ sequencing Developing and optimising in situ sequencing protocols Ordering and maintain inventories of in situ sequencing reagents Developing custom gene panels for profiling cell identity and cell state in situ Conducting quality control and preliminary analysis on in situ sequencing data Maintaining and developing the sequencing setup Training other users in this lab and other labs in the collection and analysis of in situ sequencing data A degree or equivalent experience (BSc / MSc for LRS, PhD for SLRS) in Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Bioengineering, or a closely related field Hands on experience with RNA/DNA handling and / or tissue processing (e.g., fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), RNAscope) Experience operating and troubleshooting epifluorescence or confocal microscopes Basic proficiency in a programming language (Python, R, or MATLAB) to conduct quality control, process images, and handle preliminary data analysis Demonstrated ability to independently optimize complex experimental protocols, maintain records, and manage inventories Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to train others and collaborate across projects Experience with in situ sequencing, spatial transcriptomics (e.g., MERFISH, seqFISH, Xenium), or single-cell RNA-seq pipelines (desirable) About Working at the Crick Our values Everyone who works at the Crick has a valuable role to play in advancing the Crick's mission and shaping our culture. About DualEntry DualEntry is building the OS for finance. Every business needs a financial system of record, yet the world's largest fintech market ($220B+) still runs on software from the 1990s, with no new entrants in 30 years. DualEntry's AI-native ERP automates accounting from data entry to close, so finance teams move faster, spend less and incur less risk. In just 2 years we've raised $100M+ from Lightspeed, Khosla Ventures, Contrary and Google Ventures and earned the trust of customers from $5M ARR to publicly traded companies. We hire outliers. We're looking for people with a track record of accomplishing difficult things, whether through their careers or achievements outside of work. You'll find leaders, colleagues who've competed at the highest levels of sport, performed on Broadway, trained with UFC champions and founded the country's largest Python community - because that's what it takes to reinvent a $220B industry. Where you'll create impact You'll be responsible for driving the Technology channel end-to-end. The core skill is convincing tech partners that building an integration into DualEntry is worth their engineering time. That's a different motion than co-marketing; it's product-influencing. Your role includes: Managing a book of 20 relationships at steady state; 10 mature partnerships under active management, 10 net-new relationships being opened Driving inbound traffic to attract the next wave of integration partners Owning monthly (and sometimes weekly) partner standups. We already work with exciting partners like Ramp and Deel on a monthly and sometimes weekly cadence. You'll own those relationships and make sure our product and integration story is best-in-class Partnering deeply with our Head of Product and Product Managers to coordinate internal and external engineering teams as integrations expand Representing DualEntry at industry events and running our own tech partner events Using account mapping and ecosystem intelligence tools (e.g., Crossbeam) to identify overlap and activate co-sell opportunities Managing partner agreements from strawman to signature, balancing structural fairness with commercial outcomes Why tech partners actually choose to build with us. Our product team ships with velocity and iterates on API access faster than anyone in this space. It's one of the top reasons tech partners choose to build with DualEntry over the legacy incumbents. What sets you up for success 3 to 6 years in technology / ISV partnerships, business development, or ecosystem roles at a B2B SaaS company Track record of taking integration partnerships from first conversation to launched, revenue-generating motion, and of managing a portfolio of relationships at scale (a mix of mature, actively-managed partners and net-new ones being opened) Ability to influence external product roadmaps; comfort operating alongside Product and Engineering counterparts on both sides to coordinate integration work Comfort negotiating partner agreements and referral terms directly, from strawman to signature Familiarity with account mapping / ecosystem intelligence tools (e.g., Crossbeam) to identify overlap and activate co-sell opportunities Strong internal collaboration instincts across product, marketing, and sales Comfortable representing the company at industry events, including running your own partner events Data-driven and experimental mindset Comfortable operating in high-speed, high-ownership startup environments Nice to have: Fintech, ERP, or office-of-the-CFO ecosystem experience Familiarity with account mapping tools (Crossbeam, Reveal) and partner ops tooling Existing network among B2B SaaS integration partners (spend management, billing, payroll, treasury, banking data, CRM, RevOps) Experience at an early-stage (Seed to Series B) company Why you'll thrive here Significant equity ownership in one of the top AI companies in the world You're joining early and will grow with DualEntry Your feedback shapes the product directly High-speed, high-trust environment with high expectations Meet the Partnerships Team Caelahn joined DualEntry to build the partnerships function from zero; inherited 323 partner conversations, defined our 4-channel taxonomy, and stood up the attribution and program infrastructure to activate and scale across all four channels in his first 8 weeks.
