Staff Product Manager, Tax International
Intuit Inc.
You own the international tax domain end to end: you set product strategy for the tax capability area, expand business requirements into durable capability strategies rather than one-off market builds, and navigate cross-team dynamics across engineering, legal, and compliance to ship it. You solve ambiguous, cross-market problems using data and AI methodology, not just domain memory, and you use AI to turn scattered market and regulatory signal into product opportunities other people haven't framed yet. The Staff Product Manager, Tax International role sits between the Tax & Accountant domain, Legal, and the product and engineering organization. It owns a centralized, AI-powered tax compliance layer that turns country-specific indirect and direct tax rules into reusable configurations, replacing slow, costly, country-by-country manual work that leaves Intuit and its customers exposed. Responsibilities 1. Own the AI-native tax compliance platform Builds the centralized, reusable tax layer that lets every market be a configuration, not a rebuild. Own the relationship with the US Based central teams/functions Design and own the roadmap for a centralized, AI-powered compliance platform that abstracts country-specific indirect tax, direct tax, and regulatory filing rules into reusable, scalable configurations across 100+ markets. Champion a policy-as-code model: treat government tax requirements as structured data that AI can ingest, validate, and deploy, replacing slow, per-country manual configuration. Define the AI + Human Intelligence (AI+HI) pipeline where it fits: how official government tax sources are ingested, how AI generates compliance configurations, and where human tax-expert review checkpoints apply. Partner with core capability teams to eliminate US hardcode and US-specific dependencies that create international tax risk. Own the tax engine consolidation path. Today indirect tax runs across six separate codebases and direct tax (Books-to-Tax) runs across three separate engines, with filing capability limited to UK MTD, partial US, and Australia through a partner. Drive the architectural decision (extend an existing engine, build new, or adopt a partner platform) and the multi-year consolidation roadmap, including known hard problems like the UK Flat Rate Scheme and Canada's federal/provincial split. Act as the product owner at the legal/engineering intersection, shaping technical direction rather than just brokering between teams, and set sequencing and investment priorities across Tier 1 and expansion markets. 2. Modernize Indirect Tax Delivers AI-powered VAT/GST/sales-tax experiences on a reusable foundation. Deliver AI-powered tax review, live tax rates and forms, and enhanced VAT/GST/sales-tax experiences. Build a reusable rates-and-forms platform and AI transaction-level tax classification so new markets inherit the capability by configuration. Use Singapore GST F5/F8 as the reference implementation on the unified tax engine, and sequence Malaysia GST and UAE VAT behind it on the same architecture. Grow indirect-tax adoption in priority markets, starting with the workflows customers rely on most. 3. Build AI-powered Direct Tax Extends the platform from indirect tax into direct tax on the same configuration model. Ship AI corporate tax estimates and annual tax-year updates on a reusable Direct Tax (Books-to-Tax) foundation. Own the B2T platform proof: Singapore Form C-S/C-S Lite as the first jurisdiction live on the unified engine, carried through a full jurisdiction-config lifecycle so the second market is a configuration, not a rebuild. Hold working knowledge of book-to-tax adjustments, entity-type tax treatment (corporation, trust, partnership, proprietorship), depreciation and loss-carryforward logic, and corporate filing schema literacy (1120, T2, CT600, and market equivalents). Own cross-border direct tax mechanics as multinational SMB customers scale: withholding tax and treaty rates, permanent establishment, transfer pricing basics, and Pillar Two awareness. Track UK Making Tax Digital (MTD) filing and payment acceptance rate as a standing compliance metric, including the seasonal ITSA reporting cycle. 4. Lead cross-functionally and set the bar Aligns the mission team and holds the platform to measurable outcomes. Unite an extended mission team across Product Development, Design (XD), Data Science, Product Marketing, Legal, and Finance behind a shared tax-platform vision. Manage external relationships with tax authorities (e.g., HMRC) and third-party tax vendors where needed and the strategy is to partner vs build (Fonoa, Sovos, Avalara-class). Define and hold the platform accountable to metrics and SLAs: onboarding cycle time, compliance coverage by market, filing error rates, tax-product adoption, and cost-per-country. Fast-follow US quarterly releases while owning market-differentiating localization, extensibility, and compliance depth. Qualifications Domain Experience leading global or international platform expansion: building core services and tax compliance infrastructure for multiple non-native markets. Strong grounding in both indirect tax (VAT/GST/sales tax) and direct/corporate tax for SMB and mid-market customers: book-to-tax logic, entity-type treatment, cross-border withholding and treaty mechanics, and digital filing regimes such as UK MTD. Experience building for SMB and mid-market customers at a company with an ecosystem of products and services. Functional Expertise designing global platform architecture that abstracts complex regional tax requirements (indirect and direct) into scalable, reusable components. Fluency applying AI/GenAI to real tax product problems: AI+HI workflows, structured-data ingestion, agentic automation. Ability to tell a config change (rate table, schema, form variant) apart from a genuine capability gap (new module, new workflow) without needing engineering to make that call for you. Comfortable reading primary-source tax law and filing schemas directly, not just secondary summaries. Exceptional at prioritization, able to translate tax complexity into data-driven decisions across a large, matrixed organization. Leadership Owns a domain end to end: sets product strategy for international tax and delivers it across engineering, legal, and compliance. Ability to influence beyond the direct team, across the portfolio and up to executive leadership. A quality champion with a high bar for consistency, comfortable with ambiguity, driven by customer obsession and a growth mindset. Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. This position may be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs (see more about our compensation and benefits at Intuit : Careers Benefits). Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. To drive ongoing fair pay for employees, Intuit conducts regular comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender.

Data Governance Lead
TRIA
Data Governance Lead Databricks & Unity Catalog Worcestershire (Hybrid) Up to 80,000 + 10% Bonus This is a build role, not a maintenance one. You would be the first dedicated data governance hire, taking a function that currently exists in pockets and turning it into a proper capability. No inherited framework, no legacy tooling to unpick, and a hiring manager who wants to be advised rather than to hand you a playbook. The platform is Databricks with Unity Catalog as the governance layer, supporting customer analytics, BI and a growing set of AI products. The data is sensitive and the sector is regulated, so getting this right carries genuine commercial weight. The Role Establish the data governance and data management practices that underpin high quality customer data and future AI products. Own governance within Databricks and Unity Catalog, including access control, classification and platform-side security architecture. Build and own the data contract framework between product teams and the central data function, acting as the escalation point when releases break contracts. Own data quality, dictionaries, glossaries, definitions and lineage across the estate. Establish a data steward network and the forums and processes that keep governance running without you in every conversation. Work alongside engineering to ensure sensitive customer data is properly controlled and exposure risk is designed out. Partner with the Data Protection Officer and InfoSec while owning the technical and data platform side of governance. What We're Looking For Demonstrable experience establishing or significantly maturing a data governance capability, with examples you can walk through. Solid grasp of data contracts, data lakes and modern lakehouse governance. Enough technical understanding to hold your own with data engineers, including working SQL familiarity. Confidence operating as the enforcement and escalation point, not just the policy author. Ability to influence across product, engineering, risk and security without direct authority. Nice to have Hands on Unity Catalog experience. Comparable governance tooling such as Collibra, Alation, Purview or Informatica is equally welcome if you are ready to pick Unity Catalog up. Background in a regulated industry. Exposure to a product or value stream operating model. What's On Offer Up to 80,000 base plus a 10% annual bonus. Hybrid working, with the team together in Worcestershire on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Genuine ownership. You define the framework, the standards and the roadmap. A modern data platform and a leadership team that treats governance as an enabler for AI and analytics, not a compliance tax. A two stage process: a technical conversation over Teams, then an in person interview. Quick decisions, no dragged out loops. Interested? Apply with your CV, or message me directly for a confidential conversation about the detail. Happy to talk it through before you decide either way.

BAUER MEDIA
Lead Software Engineer
BAUER MEDIA Manchester, Lancashire
Our Team: How We Enrich Everyday Life You'll be joining Bauer Media Audio (BMA), Europe's biggest commercial audio broadcaster, connecting audiences across nine markets to the music, stories and experiences they love. Bauer Media Audio is making a significant investment in a new in house software engineering hub in Manchester. This new hub reinforces Manchester's position as a key technology centre for Bauer Media Audio, alongside its existing locations. We're creating a new engineering team to build innovative business-critical solutions that will power Bauer Media's audio platform of the future. Our team is built around squads, each aligned to a distinct value stream, with a layer of cross-squad roles - people whose expertise and support spans the whole team. Each squad will be led by a Product Manager and Lead Engineer, working in partnership and jointly accountable for their squad's work and outcomes. Squads are intentionally small - typically around five to six engineers - keeping them focused, collaborative, and able to move quickly. Our team thrives on collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions, working closely with product and technology peers to ensure our platforms meet the evolving needs of the business and our international markets. The Difference You Will Make As Lead Engineer, you will combine hands-on technical contribution with the day-to-day leadership and people management of a software engineering squad within our new engineering team. You will work alongside your team, writing and reviewing code, guiding technical decisions, maintaining engineering standards, supporting the growth of individual engineers, and acting as the connective tissue between your squad and the broader engineering organisation. You'll work closely with the Director of Engineering and leaders from adjacent disciplines to ensure your team's work aligns with our technical direction and product priorities. You'll lead with empathy and clarity to foster a culture of continuous improvement, shared ownership, and engineering excellence within your squad. Team leadership roles are vital to our success so you will play a key role in helping to create a diverse, welcoming and inclusive environment that is psychologically safe, where everyone can be their authentic selves and do their best work, every day. Your Role Grow your team Support your engineers' career development and build a motivated, high-performing squad through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and by creating individual growth plans. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers - fostering a continuous improvement culture and helping the team build technical confidence and skills. Contribute technically Write and review code as an active contributor to your squad's delivery - guiding by example on quality, maintainability, and best practice. Guide architectural decisions and technical direction within your squad and contribute to broader engineering discussions. Drive delivery and planning Plan and manage squad capacity across projects - forecast hiring needs and allocating resources effectively to meet delivery commitments. Participate in roadmap, refinement, and sprint planning sessions - working closely with Product colleagues and adjacent discipline leads, providing technical input, ensuring clear scoping, and surfacing dependencies and risks early. Uphold engineering standards Define and sustain coding standards and review processes - conducting code reviews focused on quality, maintainability, and consistency. Track and manage technical debt within your squad - balancing debt reduction with feature delivery and escalating systemic issues where needed. Ensure operational excellence Participate in the in-hours and out-of-hours incident management rotas, providing hands-on technical support and clear, calm communication during high-pressure situations. Advocate for the 'you build it, you run it' ethos - ensuring your squad is equipped to deploy, operate, and support the systems they build as part of a DevOps culture where second line out of hours support is the expectation. What We're Looking For Experience of some but not necessarily all of the following: Technical capability Solid hands-on software engineering experience, with sufficient depth across frontend and backend development to guide technical decisions, review code meaningfully, and set the standard for your squad. Able to lead a team across our core stack - a Java Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes and Kafka back end, with a TypeScript/React front end - deep expertise in some areas, with the breadth to engage credibly across the rest. A strong grasp of software architecture principles - domain-driven design, service boundaries, and event-driven communication (e.g. via Kafka) - and the ability to guide your squad's technical direction within a broader engineering strategy. Modern engineering practices: CI/CD, containerisation, version control workflows, code review, testing strategies, and observability. Security best practices embedded across the development lifecycle, with the ability to guide your squad to do the same. An awareness of AI trends within engineering and an interest in AI-assisted development tooling - understanding how these tools can improve your squad's productivity and code quality. Leadership and people skills Leading or mentoring with a servant-leadership mindset and a genuine focus on the growth and wellbeing of your colleagues. Communicating with a range of people and organisational roles, managing stakeholder expectations, representing your team's needs, and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. Acting as an escalation point for your team, supporting them through complex or time-sensitive situations. Taking an organised and structured approach to planning, managing priorities and keeping delivery on track. Industry and delivery experience Leading a software engineering team or squad in a product-led, multidisciplinary organisation, with a track record of consistent, quality delivery. Agile software delivery practices and methodologies - with the experience to implement the right approach for your squad's context; SCRUM experience is a plus.
