The Head of Marketing, Scripted is responsible for the full content life-cycle, end-to-end brand and marketing strategy for Scripted, specifically leading the management of our Drama Portfolio.

The Head of Marketing oversees and leads the marketing output from a team of marketing professionals to deliver against the Marketing Plan's annual objectives by providing overall strategic direction and vision, setting benchmarks for success, role modelling behaviours, managing performance, and nurturing and developing the team.

The role leads a team to build and grow strong brands, strong services and support major customer partnerships by delivering a coherent and consistent experience for audiences (customer and consumer). The role is responsible for providing genre expertise for special projects and strategic initiatives that drive awareness and demand for BBC Studios drama globally.

Main Responsibilities

Devise and implement strategies to grow global appeal of BBC Studios' drama.

Leads all aspects of project development and delivery, directing, shaping and informing the annual strategy - accountable for the full marketing deliverables (plans, briefs, assets, reviews, relationships, and results).

Leads strategic relationship with labels/partners; devising and implementing portfolio plans to drive stronger pipeline.

Partner with Content Sales to develop partnership marketing plans and key title plans to maximise commercial value.

Building commercial plans for brand and content extensions for Scripted IP; innovating and growing value of front and back catalogue, aligning with business partners (e.g. Production, CP&L, Digital) to manage a combined activation plan.

Strategic partner to Regions supporting Content Sales and Branded Services to build global brands.

Support the VP, Marketing, Scripted by building and nurturing strong relationships with key stakeholders to shape the genre.

Resource planning, development and performance of Marketing Managers.

Role modelling the right behaviours in collaborating with internal stakeholders, and teams.

Inspiring the team to achieve excellence in the Marketing discipline.

Campaign Delivery
Lead relationships with internal creative teams, digital, comms, insight and external agencies to deliver world-class marcomms strategies, plans and campaigns to support new and returning drama.

Manage a team to deliver against strategic objectives across multiple media to support the business - providing best-in-class customer marketing, delivering compelling trade, customer and consumer propositions and producing brand guidelines.

Ensures all campaigns are optimised to deliver maximum value to the BBC across the lifecycle of the content.

Ensure the annual plan and all campaigns are delivered within budget and timeframe, and ensuring all asset production is delivering clear MROI.

Oversee all genre creative and compliance. Managing and mitigating risks and issues, escalating as required.

Strategy, Planning and Implementation
Support and influence the overall genre brand strategy, leading the strategy for drama and providing clear, measurable brand targets.

Project management of business transformational work, spanning multiple divisions, requiring deeper collaboration, influencing, and leadership skills.

Ensure all scripted brands are appropriately managed through the full content life-cycle including development, production, launch, growth and maturity.

Help develop and implement the annual marketing plan, activating with clear marketing briefs.

Partner with Creative, Comms, Insight, Trade Marketing and Digital to ensure strategies are informed by actionable data and insight, deliver value for the business.

Oversees the audience insight derived within their team to ensure it is suitably rich and strong enough to form the genesis of each campaign brief, working with the insight team to develop clear and measurable KPIs for marketing activity.

Regularly reviewing campaigns against the annual plan and brand strategy.

Support the VP, Marketing in the delivery of their overall marketing objectives by ensuring the genre plans deliver to the overall B&M and BBCS objectives.

Are You The Right Candidate?

Essential
A team leader good at talent attraction, development, culture, empowerment, motivation and being clear, fair and inclusive; bringing multiple disciplines together in ways which achieve outstanding results.

Significant marketing experience specifically within the media industry or an industry with similar scale and complexity, plus significant management experience of leading a team.

The role requires knowledge and experience of:

A strong understanding of the media sector and BBC competitors, and the relevant in-depth knowledge of current global industry trends and issues

A record of strategic and creative success gained at a senior level within broadcasting, media or an industry with similar brand-facing business

Experience leading successful, results driven teams

Record of managing a major brand throughout its lifecycle and experience developing and delivering fully integrated campaigns (B2B, B2C and/or DTC)

Results driven approach that uses data to drive thinking and decisions, with experience translating audience insight and research into a brand strategy and marketing plan to deliver effective campaigns.

Strong awareness of the way in which programmes are commissioned, financed and produced.

Experience of influencing and managing sometimes challenging critical stakeholder relationships.

Experience of setting a vision and inspiring others to deliver against it - translating the vision into practical, short, medium and long-term goals for the team. Good at planning and getting the details, as well as the big picture right.

Good interpersonal skills, able to collaborate across organisational boundaries, embrace change, and make improvements to working practices.

Excellent written and spoken communication, with strong negotiation and influencing skills.

Self-reliant, resilient and proactive.

Desirable
Knowledge of the broadcasting industry and a demonstrable interest in its output.

Experience of fast-moving consumer markets, and business models that have transformed to adapt to changing conditions
