Are you new to teaching and looking to further your knowledge and skills within Science? Or do you already have Science teaching experience and are looking for a new journey? We are currently looking for a nurturing, personable character to teach Science in one of our SEMH settings in Greenwich, South East London. This is a permanent role to start as soon as possible and is an exciting opportunity for aspiring teachers as the school are open to hearing from both qualified and unqualified teachers. Unqualified teacher salaries are £30,000 - £33,000 per year and qualified teachers will be paid as close to the teacher pay scale as possible within their budget. The school does not present with the typical behavioural challenges often associated with alternative or specialist settings. Students are not violent or aggressive; instead, they tend to experience heightened anxiety. All pupils have experienced some form of trauma, most commonly related to bullying, and the majority are supported by EHCPs. For this reason, it is vital that we appoint someone with the right social and emotional approach. Students can find new adults challenging, so a calm, consistent and personable presence is key to success in this role. The environment is informal, relaxed and frequently described as a family unit . Staff are able to dress casually and adapt their teaching creatively, shaping lessons in ways that best support each student s learning and emotional wellbeing. You will be required to teach small classes (maximum of eight pupils) and provide essential one-to-one support from 08:30 - 16:30 each day. Key Responsibilities: Teaching Secondary Science, including GCSEs and Functional Skills. Leading A-Level Chemistry instruction. Supporting students with academic levels ranging from primary to Key Stage 3. Occasional lesson cover as part of the small, supportive 12-person team.
