This is a unique opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils with complex needs and thrives in a role where no two days are the same. The school has developed a specialist provision within their mainstream setting to support children across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 who present with a wide range of needs. These include non-verbal pupils, children with emotional dysregulation, sensory needs, behavioural challenges, ADHD, ASD, SEMH, learning disabilities and other complex developmental difficulties. They are looking for a resilient, nurturing and proactive Teaching Assistant who can bring patience, structure and positivity to this demanding but deeply rewarding environment. Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities Work as a Teaching Assistant within the school's SEND provision supporting pupils with a broad range of complex and challenging needs Provide 1:1 and small group support, helping children regulate emotions, communicate effectively and access learning Assist the class teacher and SEND team in delivering tailored interventions as a dedicated Teaching Assistant Implement behaviour support strategies and sensory regulation tools confidently and consistently Support non-verbal pupils using visual aids, PECS, gestures, routines and other communication approaches Create a nurturing, safe and structured environment as a committed Teaching Assistant Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff to ensure every pupil receives the right level of support Maintain accurate notes, follow EHCP targets and contribute to pupil progress meetings Help with personal care where required Always uphold the school's safeguarding and behaviour policies in your role as a Teaching Assistant Teaching Assistant - Requirements Experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary or SEND environment Confidence supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, sensory needs and complex learning differences Ability to remain calm, patient and consistent in a challenging environment Team Teach training or equivalent de-escalation training is highly desirable An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred Strong communication, resilience and a genuine passion for helping vulnerable children Commitment to full-time, long-term work from Monday to Friday Why apply for this Teaching Assistant role?
