Fixed Term Contract - 12 months
As a member of our Income Team, you will work with North Devon Homes' customers to help maximise their financial position, promote financial capability and independence through the delivery of an effective benefits and money advice service. You will co-ordinate contact between North Devon Homes and benefits agencies to promote effective management of claims and payments.
The main responsibilities of the role are:
To work independently on a number and range of cases to provide advice and support around household budgeting, money management and welfare benefits in order to ensure tenancies remain sustainable.
Support and advise customers to maximise their income by fully claiming welfare benefits to which they are entitled
Complete income and expenditure assessments with customers including discussing priority debts and payments and reducing outgoings.
Provide household budgeting and money management advice.
Identify debts and potential debt strategies and make onward referrals to specialist debt support provision or self-help resources.
About You
You will have a good knowledge & understanding of Housing Benefit regulations, welfare benefits, discretionary funds and grants, welfare reform and financial inclusion services.
You will also have a sound understanding of fuel poverty, poverty and other issues affecting a customer's ability to pay.
You will have good knowledge of voluntary sector agencies and voluntary organisations.
You will be passionate about helping people with sensitivity and the ability to build trust.
Hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle available for work when required. (Essential car user).
