Project Engineer - Product Outsourcing, Abingdon, 6 - 12 months, £38 - £42 per hour (Umbrella):
A global high technology manufacturer based in Oxfordshire is looking to recruit a contract Project Engineer to lead, support and guide the outsourcing of product and subassemblies within the supply chain.Initially a6-month contract starting in January 2023, this has the potential to extend several times potentially to 2 years.
The Project Engineer will be working on an incredibly important project to outsource legacy products and subassemblies which will improve the current manufacturing capacity.Not getting bogged down with the day-to-day manufacturing engineering and project engineering duties, you will be given the opportunity to focus your time on delivering this incredibly important project, some key duties:
- Detailed build and test documentation for complex projects is fit for purpose.
- Suggest improvements to existing processes, materials and referring to technical experts to manage associated risk
- Own and deliver the agreed aspects of a given project within budget and time
- Lead and identify cost down requirements for products and manufacturing processes
- Work with supply chain and suppliers to develop supply chain for designs
About you:
The successful Project Engineer will need to be HNC/HND/Degree education in a relevant engineering or manufacturing subject. You will also need the following:
- Demonstratable experience in leading outsourcing projects and/or product transfer
- Able to lead design for manufacture techniques
- Six Sigma Green Belt or demonstratable experience including MSA, PCP and Value Stream Mapping
- Able to develop, document and control detailed processes and guide technicians through build and test operations identifying CTQ/CTS
- Familiar with project management techniques and practice
- Understanding of mechanical design principles to ensure product success
- Interpret CAD designs and able to review 2D design drawings.
- Understanding of ERP/MRP systems
