Water is essential to life, so our business is always open.About the role:This is a fantastic opportunity to join Thames Water as an Area Lead/Project Manager and to be part of the ground-breaking engineering project that has taken many years of construction with a cost of over £4 billion to complete, The Thames Tideway Tunnel (TTT). As The Area Lead/Project Manager you will take the lead in programming and co-ordinating Thames Water activities to facilitate delivery of the Thames Tideway Tunnel Project works. You will lead in delivering the work of various Thames Water function specialisms to ensure the activities are co-ordinated and aligned to the LTT Programme. Providing expert advice on matters relating to the interface of Thames Tideway Tunnel with existing Thames Water assets, both during the construction phase and during the commissioning / handover phase.You will ensure that all parties are working collaboratively to deliver the best for project outcomes whilst ensuring Health & Safety Standards are maintained at the highest levels.London based, this will cover a wide range of issues, from planning access to assets, identifying and solving programme issues, through to commissioning / handover issues (including health & safety, quality assurance, construction and commissioning standards). As well as interfaces with design, engineering Operations and Tideway's Main Works Contractors.Day to day duties will include:
  • Taking the lead in delivering complex engineering solutions to meet the needs of the TTT programme.
  • Liaising with departments across Thames Water to ensure that staff are effectively engaged and are able to work collaboratively with the TTT Main Works Contractors.
  • Providing a local focus for Health and Safety, both related to the construction of the works and the safe access and working within Thames Water existing assets
  • Working across the Thames Water functional areas to ensure the TTT programme remains central to all TWUL related activities. You will identify issues early on site and drive the resolution of those issues with reference back to the appropriate Thames Water team.
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
  • We are looking for someone with an excellent understanding of Project Delivery and a good understanding of TWUL operations organisation and procedures. You will ideally have previous experience in working in a Project Delivery environment with a proven record of delivering to programme, it would be desirable to have knowledge of operational / construction / commissioning practices.
  • You will be a champion of Health & Safety and have the ability to prevent unsafe practises and site hazards and intervene when necessary.
  • The ideal person will be able to co-ordinate various programme activities and be able to think on their feet, respond rapidly to urgent situations and demonstrate practical problem-solving skills. You will need to be able to build and maintain close working relationships with contractors and be trusted to become an integral part of the project delivery team and to deliver outcomes to the benefit of Thames Water and the project.
