Job Description

Join a global professional services leader. We are committed to solving the world's biggest challenges in the areas of water, energy, and urbanisation.

We are in an exciting time of growth, seeking people with curious minds and who have a passion for problem solving and co-creating environmental solutions. Our Environment team is dynamic and multi-talented, actively working with our clients to address myriad challenges in a decarbonising society, and keen for like-minded individuals to join our expanding team.

You will support delivery of some of the most challenging and exciting problems within multiple sectors of the UK industry, from Resource Management and Sustainable Investments, to Decarbonisation and Future Energy. Hence, experience in developing sustainable solutions and a passion in pursuing economic and community enhancements in infrastructure are key.

As we are a small team anticipating rapid growth, your responsibilities will vary across the entire project lifecycle. We operate a start-up mentality and pace, with the support and resources of a global corporate. As a result, you must be comfortable working in an agile and evolving environment. You will be expected to bring fresh ideas based on your previous experience and contribute to shaping our team from both a cultural and technical perspective. Importantly, as our team continues to grow, you will have the opportunity to develop and lead your own team of specialists; we will support and encourage you to develop your, and your future team's, capability and experience across many sectors, giving you the freedom to explore and pioneer your interests across a broad project and client base.

The role:

The role is comprised of a variety of environmental professional service tasks and responsibilities and will see you involved in delivering impact assessment for planning and consenting, permitting and regulatory compliance assessments, and monitoring and management services related to project approvals. The projects you will be involved in will be varied, ranging in complexity, subject areas, and sectors of industry. It could involve enabling a client to transform a manufacturing site to a wholly different use, permitting the decommissioning of a large industrial site with competing needs, or supporting the development of new technology towards a sustainable future use.

Your anticipated responsibilities include:

Technical project delivery of impact assessment for planning and consenting, permitting and regulatory compliance assessments, and monitoring and management services related to project approvals and natural area management.
Project management and preparation of environmental reports for permitting and consenting (including EIA), and planning studies, including providing advice and direction regarding project approval pathways.
Developing and maintaining client relationships and supporting clear and concise communications to clients and their partners, clearly articulating your views and honest perspectives through active listening and engaged participation.
Contributing to business development; identifying, pursuing and securing additional opportunities for work that will deliver tangible client and community benefits.
Pursuing, with support, opportunities to improve your technical and non-technical skills, contributing to developing the skills of other team members.

About you:

To deliver against these responsibilities you will demonstrate senior consulting experience in the following technical capabilities:

Proven success in applying EPR and/or EIA Regulations, including experience preparing approval documents to support consenting processes.
Between 2-5+ years consulting on permitting and consents, including EIAs.
Proven ability in legislative interpretation and regulatory liaison.
Knowledge of UK and EU regulatory frameworks and policy with respect to environmental permitting and other environmental approvals.
Ability to drive to site and undertake fieldwork throughout the UK in various environments and sometimes remote locations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Well-developed interpersonal skills: a strong team player who establishes rapport with both internal & external partners; communicates upwards and is receptive to technical review and guidance; and mentors less experienced team members.
The dedication to deliver high quality and technically robust project outcomes to tight timeframes and within budgets.

What's in it for you:

We are committed to the success of our people which is why we want to create the best employee experience that supports each member through all the stages of their career. Here is what we offer:

A competitive salary
A comprehensive benefit package; pension, medical insurance, income protection, 25 days holiday with the option to buy an additional 4 weeks
Enhanced parental leave
Voluntary benefits designed to suit your lifestyle - cycle to work, discounted gym membership, season ticket loan, discounts on retail & wellbeing classes

Wellbeing resources and tools, and demonstration of our commitment to wellbeing by signing up to the Mental Health at Work Commitment
Team led flexible working
Opportunities to grow your skills and shape your career towards technical expertise, or leading a team
International, multi-cultural team of highly motivated individuals
An exciting referral program (bring people with you)
