WHAT TO EXPECT
User Controls and Information is a group within Electrical Engineering and is responsible for delivering HMI devices. These include electro-mechanical commodities, HMI software and electronics. Examples include, integrated audio and HVAC control panels, electronic transmission selector modules, column and steering wheel controls, cabin switches and interfaces, USB and wireless charging devices, as well as Displays and Head Up Displays. This is an area of constant innovation, with the transition toward a more digital experience leading to introduction of smart surfaces and perfectly crafted traditional controls.
This group is a critical contributor in delivering the vehicle interior design, and perceived quality attributes as well as delivering all the functional and electrical requirements.
You will be part of a team of diverse and skilled engineers with various experience running in an Agile framework.
The specific squad you will be part of has been recently created. It is focussed on CORE activities for user controls and displays. It means that it looks after the maintenance and evolution of the existing portfolio, managing its quality, design evolution, compliance requirement, model years activity, as well as the changes related to component supply especially silicon shortage.
You will interact with various suppliers and coordinate the activities related to problem solve and introduce engineering changes into our portfolio of commodities. This will include hardware modifications link to Silicon shortage or obsolescence.
Operating in a cross-functional agile organisation, Engineers will direct report into the Product Owner, with a coordination with the Chapter leads who ensure the application of the latest engineering standards and know how.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
As an Electronics Design Change Engineer, you will be ensuring all commodities design solutions meet targets for cost, quality, power consumption and weight. You will ensure components meet the relevant legal regulations & RMDV requirements, WERS releases, including IVS where required, releasing to support the relevant commodity, and manage the components through the Optical Quality and PCPA processes when appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
Experience in developing and delivering automotive electronic products or other equivalent in a high volume, high reliability, cost sensitive area.
Experience for problem solving, leading the resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes
Good interpersonal skills and can clearly articulate technical issues to all levels
Integrity and self-discipline, to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner
Desirable:
Familiarity with Jaguar Land Rover PD processes and systems (WERS, AIMS, etc.)
Knowledge of switchgear and/ or Display and / or Electro-mechanical design
Knowledge of HMI
Knowledge of switchgear and or display development
Basic knowledge of simulation tools (e.g. Matlab, Simulink, Spice etc.)
Specialised Knowledge:
A knowledge of automotive vehicle networks
Experience of developing high volume products from concept to production
Key practitioner in problem solving techniques (eg: six-sigma)
Understanding of DFMEA, PFMEA
Have an awareness / understanding of some the following: Power supply topologies, interfacing to microcontrollers, power switching, analogue design, digital circuits, EMC, vehicle network hardware, plastic moulding, backlighting and illumination.
