Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting for a junior UAV pilot ot join it's Power Solution's business

Key Aims and Objectives:

  • Provide enhanced survey data-capture and mapping services to support lean execution.
  • Lead a 'right first time' approach through the deployment of UAV-led Quality Control Inspections.
  • Champion the introduction of new ways of working, protecting our people, and project execution through the innovative use of aerial technology.


Roles and Responsibilities:

Planning
  • Collaborate with project teams to determine project UAV requirements and objectives.
  • Scheduling and coordinating flights, aligning capacity with priorities and expectations.
  • Maintain and document compliance with CAA Regulations.
  • Ensure the preparation and readiness of UAV RAMS.
  • Identification of resource/spotter in-situ to assist planned flights.
  • Ensure equipment and accessories are routinely inspected/maintained, and documented.
  • Thorough journey/lookahead/equipment planning.


Flights
  • In-situ pre-flight planning/testing, ensuring safety of self and nearby workers.
  • Operating UAV's to achieve project objectives in accordance with RAMS and CAA Regulations.
  • Chair flight debriefs, and communicate flight details/deliverables to project teams.
  • Maintaining thorough flight logs and equipment condition/maintenance assessments.


Data
  • Coordinating with all responsible parties to ensure timely data transfer.
  • Expedite creation, receipt, and evaluation of survey/inspection reports.
  • Maintain certification and communicate renewal requirements in advance.
  • Ensure thorough archiving of flight records, deliverables, certificates.


Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential
  • Registered UAV Pilot/Flyer ID.
  • Valid A2 Certificate of Competency.
  • Valid General VLOS Certificate (GVC).
  • Skilled in the use of VTOL systems.
  • Good understanding of CAA Regulations as it applies to UAV's (The Drone and Model Aircraft Code).
  • Diligent attitude towards maintaining records.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Excellent computing skills


Desirable
  • Experience working within the Transmission and Distribution industry and navigating OHL Assets.
  • Skilled in both UAV Surveying and Inspection activities.
  • Ability to manage third party UAV data processing and good computing skills.
